he ain't heavy he's my brother
I ran into my car's brother a while back... he ain't heavy he's my brother.
Turbo fenders are just amazing, and I've always wondered if I would prefer a narrow or wide slate grey car? They definitely look awesome in videos and pictures, but in person they usually show lots of road chips and look a little goofy. Definitely over the top (in a really good way). That said, there's also something neat and pure about the narrow body form. I think I need both in my life...
Also, I've been told my car seems a little darker than other slate grey cars, that seems to be the case here too. (Sorry, pics where taken in the middle of a very bright day)
BTW, this is my first sighting of this car, but it has been in the Raleigh area for over 10 years!

Three Wheelin'
that widebody is pretty from damn near every angle. Personally I love the rear fenders on the wb cars, but the front looks kinda awkward. Not sure why. Just personal opinion.
the nb cars have an appeal as well. I wish I could swap between the two.
Factory ride height is shockingly tall.

Both look great Jetta. After comparing the two side/side, the 'pop' that having a contrasty wheel color helps out that wide hip girl. Any thoughts into trying that on yours?

I Plastidiped the rims black in the summer of 2012, as a short-termed test. Years later I can't imagine the rims not being black. It gives the car an extra bit of aggression and ties in well to the blacked-out secondary lights. At least to me, on a Slate Grey car. That said, I do like the shiny aluminum finish of the rims, just not the maintenance of trying to keep the rims clean of brake dust (to prevent surface etching). I just hose off these black rims and move on...

Turbo fenders and Speedline rims, the stuff 964 dreams are made of. I can't compete...

Cup 4 from Tire Rack. This was the replacement rim when they stopped offering the regular 964 Cup replicas. 7.5 front 9x17 rear. Perfect offset.

This image helps shows where the design language of the rim comes from:

Yup, I did a plastidip on my Classics as well, I like it enough I'll likely get them painted a vintage color. I've got a preference towards the contrast, but completely see where you are coming from with a murdered out black accent. To each his own, but boy that Slate Grey is still beautiful

So this is a ROW jubilee car? Is it a C4? In either case both look great. One of each is nice. How did he import this car nearly 10 years ago and have it legalized?
As you know you can line up multiple factory paint cars in the same color and have multiple variations. It takes more than mixing paint to a formula to match most of the cars from this era.
