Also how proportional is it to each model as well. I have no doubt that the number is far less than 75% of all 914's or 924's but would venture to guess that 90% of all 993's still exist. Considering more Cayenne's have been made than air cooled 911's and my 04 turbo is just as good today as it was when I purchased it 11 years ago. I have no doubt these models contribute to their claim more so than the air cooled or early water cooled cars.
Best question is which roads are they on and how many are still being driven. We can thank Rudy for single handedly preserving a collection of pristine examples of both the 964 and 993. One day we may be visiting his museum and all drooling over them as we did with the cars from the 40's and 50's in the 70's.

I'm interested to know the last VIN built in 1993 and what month it was. My cab is 08/93 last 4 our the vin are 0214. I believe 993 production started after the summer vacation in 1993?
Thanks,

964 VIN
0433 - '93 C2 coupe Manufacture completion date 1/27/93.
I have also attached a copy of the VIN identification system from the 1993 fact book I have. There's also pricing for ALL MY 1993 models with options and a list of all "M" options. Porsche North America put it together for sales people and claim it's only to be used as a guide.

IIRC the factory was shut down in 93 for an extended period for the refit to a more modernized manufacturing assembly line. The days of hand finessing these cars was over. Many cars with heavy options were sent to the werks exclusive department and were not delivered until later in 94. I believe the line was not started back up again until late in 94.
Be careful some of the info in the sellers guide is incorrect hens the disclaimer. It is a nice novelty I have one myself.

Do you think August 1993 was the last month of regular 964 production?

It would be interesting if it has the code that usually means there is a double count of these numbers but 0205 is quite high into 94 since so few were made to begin with.
I would need to source an old Pano article for the specifics but IIRC it was a long shutdown and a lot of employees were put on leave for a while and then had to be retrained in the new methods.

Interesting discussion on the '94 model year with M718 codes. Does anyone know how many cars carried the R code for both chassis and engine? My '94 C2 coupe is an M718 car #279.

It is very possible all the 94's were M718 coded. This would seriously cut into the total C2's made. The more we visit this the fewer there seem to be. Hold onto your 964's.
