Can anyone show they have a vin number below xxx61?
With all the 964's being cut up and modified it has a lot of old info coming out stating actual number of US and ROW 964's manufactured. The problem is most of this is incorrect and overstates how many 964's were produced for the US at a minimum.
I have documentation showing that US MY cars start with vin number xxx61 not xxxx1 as most assume. So numbers that were used as gospel are showing far more cars made than there should be. The 928 registry has every US vin number listed. Every 928 starts with xxx61 I also had access to the factory database which would show any US vin below xxx61 as invalid.
I was asking for members to share their vin if it is below xxx61? I know we should not see any for the US but was curious how this impacted the ROW market and if the ROW cars start with xxxx1 or not.
So anyone who has a vin below xxx61 it would be helpful if you can share or confirm you have a number below 61.
Adrian was on track with the last vin numbers but included the first 60 cars for each MY. His count showed 6306 US spec 964 C2/C4 coupes made but when subtracting the 60 first cars of each MY made this number falls to 4245. This will help us verify how few of these were manufactured.
Remember if you do it must be accompanied by whether it is a US or ROW spec car. This should include all cars including cabs targas etc please specify what you have.
This will probably need to be addressed on another thread but any M718 coded cars which have a different chassis code vs engine and tranny will also prove that even less were made than we realize. More than likely most of these have been double counted in two MY's.
