Default DME relay not activating

Hi,
I was hoping someone had had a similar problem and a solution. My 1990 C4 has a no start problem. The starter works but the DME relay is not activating. I have 2 more spare DME relays and they test ok on the bench but will not activate with the key in the ON position or the START position. Awaiting a replacement ignition switch in case that is the problem. Battery new and charged. Viper aftermarket alarm seems ok. Strange thing is, that if I remove the DME relay cover and activate the first relay (DME power and power to positive side of injectors) manually and turn the key to the START position the car will start and run fine. Any thoughts ?
Thanks,
Enzo

Default Any thoughts

Hi again,
Mechanic still has not found problem - maybe bad earth to DME pins but nothing definite. Any thoughts? From what I can tell the alarm, Viper 500, switches off starter but may it have been linked to the DME relay- next thing to look at I guess.
Regards,
Enzo

Just a quick note to say the problem was the alarm module (92863710403 part # in my case). It's under & behind the hood hinge on the passenger side in a right hand drive car.

Glad you found the problem. In most cases the real problem is the alarm system or aftermaket imobilizer, and not the DME itself if just the relay is OK.
