ha ha..this site is chock full of "consultants" who can advise you on just about anything on your car....you just need to accurately describe the problem, what's leaking and where?

btw- if your car is CONUS and youre OCONUS youre gonna need one hell of a long screwdriver

The timing Cover Gasket is leaking. I'm told the engine needs to be removed to repair the Timing Cover Gasket (and crankshaft seal leak) and the estimate cost is $7,000.00 for the repairs. Wanted to get an opinion of the work and cost. I had an earlier estimate of under $2K from a dealer in Texas. The car is now in Florida. Hoping I could get an independent view of the matter.

is yours a C2 or C4?
Is the crank seal leak on the pulley/fan side or transmission side?

shouldn't need to do a full drop for the cam cover gaskets.. but if you have a C4 and the rear seal is leaking, you will.

It's a C2. From what I understand, the rubber in the seal failed and is causing the leak at the chain tensioner. The left side oil drain tubes have a leak as well.

Unless more is going on, then that seems like a lot of money for what you are describing. I have done all that with engine only partially dropped. I just dropped my engine and that is not that hard. For a shop with a lift, it would be way easier.
