Trip Report: A wet Hill Country Texas run

This was a total blast! I had not spent quality time with my 964 in about 2 years. I was apprehensive at first to go on a 3-day, nearly 1000mi, hard-driving road trip in a car I hadn't been driving much at all, but rain (we had plenty) and shine the car was a champ! Thank you to tfitch for the invite. I'm already looking forward to the next time.

As I am not a writer or anything close I will cautiously attempt a trip report.
Even though this years participants came from Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas; we all managed to arrive at the rental house within 10 minutes of each other. The Houston guys decided to fly to Austin and rent 5.0 Mustangs because they didn't think their mini vans would be appropriate. The San Antonio guys were sporting the '69 Mustangs, and the 964's came from Dallas. We went into Fredericksburg for dinner Friday night and called it an early night because we wanted and early start Saturday morning.
We were woken up by the sound of a high horse power pony car rev'ing his engine. A quick cup of coffee and route briefing and we were on the road. Due to the weather we decided we would do our route counter clockwise and come in behind the rain. That didn't pan out and we got wet the first half of our trip. At lunch in Leaky we made the decision to turn around and go back the way we came which proved successful as the sun came out and the tops came down. Vagluv got to meet one of the counties finest and got away with a warning. To quote the officer: "if you could keep it below 120 that would be great."
We made it back to Fredericksburg at dinner time and shared beers and stories with people from all over. We met one girl, named Cheyenne, who was passing through on a bicycle that she is riding from California to Florida. Very interesting story. Still running on adrenaline we made it back to the rental house and continued to the wee hours of the morning.
Sunday we rolled out of bed early, slapped high fives, and went our separate ways. We are all already looking forward to next year, the third annual Texas Hill Country Run. Now for more pics.

Bump for an old thread to see if any of our Texas brethren would like to join for the 6th annual installment of the Hill Country Rally. We will be staging in Kerrville this year with drive day being April 25. Please post here or PM if you are interested in some good drive time on some great roads!
