Default half roll cage

Hi Guys,

i noticed a lot of cars at eynsham hall had half cages that bolted to the rear seat belt mounting points.

Does anyone know where you can buy these in the UK and do they add much structural rigidity

thanks in advance

I think they stiffen up the chassis a bit (but not as much as a full cage welded in), but I think their main function is as a safety device.

the half cage is not strictly a bolt-in as you need mounting plates welded to the inside sill at foot of door pillar. you then bolt up to these and the rear seatbelt mounting points in the case of the Matter bolt-in. The rear cage is for roll-over protection, important for track days, doubt if it contributes to chassis stiffness, cars are pretty strong at floor level ( not at roof level!). If you want one there was one for sale on PCGB website but you need to be a member to log in........

wasn't to concerned about adding rigidigy was just curious as it wasn't a welded in full cage.

i didn't really want to start cutting and welding the car thats why it attracted me.

the ones i saw looked like a relatively simple bolt in bolt out job, if only i had my digi camera with me i hate being so vague

i think that might be the type can't say i noticed if it was welded to the floor i thought it bolted to the front seatbelt mounts and the rear seat belt mounts and had adjusters i assume to account for chasis variations.

i am not a member of PCGB so could you PM the details or post them

There is a company here in the states that does True bolt in "half cages" they are DAS Sport systems. I've got one in my car and it did provide some stiffening... try www.dassport.com

I can recommend the Heigo club bars which are half cages that bolt to the seat belt points. You do not need to drill or weld anywhere. There are a number of options depending on whether you have a sunroof or not and you can choose the number of diagonal braces in the cage.
I prefer the Heigo cage to the Matter one because Heigo has better bracing at the attachment points hence the weight does not rest on the bolts but rather on integral sheet plates. Take a look at their website: www.heigo.de
