Dear Phil,
I placed the original thread only on 964, Porsche Cayenne, General and Off Topic. If you visit these forums you will see that it generated little or no interest. Look at the number of people who viewed the thread on the Cayenne forum as compared to a visit to the factory. Johns photo competition generated far far more interest.
Hey maybe I only helped 40 people in the past 5 years. The response from the Rennlist mail lists and smartgroups is included in the 40. I believe a couple of smartgroupers sent donations direct to the bank account in Scotland. I am waiting for that info but from the rennlist forums, rennlist mail lists and smartgroups we have 40 donations and just over $US2,000 in the kitty.
Ciao,
Adrian

Adrian

I really don't see why the number of donations should relate to the number of people you have helped (which I'm sure is great than 40, anyway).

Come on guys, get your fingers out!

Adrian - Human nature is a strange thing. It amazes me how many people use this forum for example without becoming Rennlist members. The "something for nothing" category...

Stick with what you believe is the right thing to do.

I also thought the prizes would be of some incentive as well. First prize is Excellence was Expected worth $240. Maybe the second prize puts people off. Derek Bell will sign that one as well as myself. The prizes will be awarded even if not one more donation is received.

I've posted a message in the General forum. Maybe others from here can go and add to it?

Cheers

Dear Rob,
When Natalie died we received literally thousands of condolence messages, hundreds of offers of money and some cheques in the mail which I promptly returned saying thank you very much but I could not accept money like this. I asked everyone to be patient and let us grieve for a while and let us try and come up with something. 18 months later we have. Funnily enough most of those who kindly offered financial help at the time are absent from the current donors list.
Ciao,
Adrian

Time to bring this back to the top.

Well, there's been no response to my post on the General forum, and no more response to this thread. What's wrong with you guys?

Look, Adrian's first prize - Excellence was Expected - is a fantastic book worth about £150 which tells you everything you'd ever want to know about Porsches. Second prize is Adrian's own book on the 964, which I've only seen a very early draft of, but I know it'll be essential reading for anyone on this board. So if you're too selfish to donate to a good cause, maybe you'd like to have a gamble on winning one of these or other prizes.

Cheers

Donations have now reached 50 via paypal. Still only 3 direct into the bank. We are still a long way from our targets. However I am still here helping out maybe some others can see their way clear to help me and our cause out. Paypal donations can be made via adrianstreather@rennlist.com.
