I replaced the front passenger side a couple years ago. I think I paid just over $100 for the fan motor with the cage, its not the factory fan but has worked perfect. It took a couple of hours and wasnt to bad I just dug in with no real clue but it works great. I believe the drivers side is a whole new story.

I don`t recall any headaches, the fan I used swapped right in. I went to look for my receipt and that is one i can`t find for some damn reason. I think the website I gave is where I got it so I did a quick search on it and listed the part number that I saw but after looking again the one I gave show`s as the rear blower motor. I will search for the receipt again and if I find it will be sure to let you know. But I don't do the hard jobs so I am sure anyone could do it.

i pull up that part says "heater blower motor"

interweb search shows porsche stopped making the 964 motor and this 993 motor supercedes it.

993 624 328 01 and 00

looks like the website just added the 964

OHenry, you are going around in circles. I gave you the part numbers back in post #6, these fans are readily available, but at a premium cost. HERE is an image from Pelican Parts website of the fan you are looking for.
PS. No need to remove the gas tank. Do a search here on "a/c fan removal" and lots of info will show up.

I think that the question is does this part number work for left and right?
Mine need replacing and although $625 a side at Sunset is still cheaper than the $2500 quote at the dealer, I would like to spend less.

or just does it fit ? if i could do one side @ $100 it would still be worth it.

reverse the polarity for the other side ?

i just cant believe there is anything proprietary with these motors and that there is no cross reference part for another use at 95% off.

my buddy needed a sensor for his rover @ $598. bmw x5 uses the same part for $85..... go figure.

^^$100 is a very inexpensive solution. I replaced one side on the 964Turbo a few years ago when it started blowing fuses but it was $1250 all in.

I believe to get it to work on the drivers side you would also need to remove the cage from the old one careful not to break it and then put it on the new fan motor. As i think the blades curve different. I looked everywhere for the receipt this weekend but i could not find it.

i have almost everything apart..... looking at the passenger side fan/motor. i can see the torque head screws back there but it is not a straight shot as the fan blade is in the way to remove....

i pull the fan blades off and remove... i do not need any sort of access from the rear ?

There are 2 small cut outs in the fan blades, that will allow you to get a screw driver in there. Rotate the fan until you get them lined up.
