So I emailed Rennline. They are pretty cool about helping.

He referenced this thread.

I guess they are just a PITA to install on any car, unless it's a Cup. Even the OEM RS duct can be difficult.

I think I'm going to try to lightly safety wire the alternator shroud around the lip. Think that should hold it there.

As far as fooling your CCU, I'm telling you this guy has got it figure out.

Babalouie Porsche 964 Build

If you scroll down about half way, he shows you the mod step by step.

Can anyone elaborate on what this chap says about this hot wire mod not working on pre 91 cars. Guess what, mines a 1990!

Thanks again for all the replies, I'm sure I'll get there with all this help. Love this forum!

I've just messaged the mechanic at my garage to see if he can get me this relay, hoping this works as it looks nice and tidy! Thanks again, jim.

I'm in the same boat, 89 C4. Not sure why, we can't do the simple mod, but I'm sure the electronics were upgraded on the newer cars. What he does is not difficult. Running a new wire and utilizing some of the existing ones.

I wonder if he used that aftermarket relay though, because he blew his OEM one?

Anyway, the relay he uses can be had at any auto or electronics store for next to nothing. $5-$7. You're looking for a 12v 40a 4pin relay. Don't know if you need the plug or not.
