Default Easy Keyless Entry System (T-Lock)

I just installed the T-Lock keyless entry system on my car and it is amazing and quite easy to install (pretty inexpensive to boot, $85 shipped).

Range is a bit short, I need to find a better placement for the box.

Here are some of the notes on my install:

1. I have a 1991, so I have the late model car with the box with the yellow connector.

2. Because I have an amplifier under the passenger seat, I had to remove to seat and amp to get to the lock control box (hardest part).

3. Using the supplied wire clips takes quite a bit of pressure to squeeze for solid connection, make sure it's flush and clicks shut.

4. My unlock/lock wires (yellow and yellow/black) were reversed, as the instructions said they may be. Because I already spliced in and connected the wires, I simply used a small point (the point on my multi-meter) to depress the small metal connector in the harness to remove and simply swapped them.

5. The brown blinker wires connect to the thicker black/green and black/blue wires. They are not adjacent in the harness, they are opposite rows and opposite sides. They are pins 8 and 9.

6. Have some extra small zip ties on hand to dress up the wire bundles.

7. I have to find a better placement for the box. Right now, it's just under the passenger carpet and might get stepped on.

Oooh. Gotta have one of these. So, you just splice it in line?

Ricardo, your pattern was perfect for my sound deadening project. Thanks!

Agreed! I wish the previous owner would have installed it so that I wouldn't have little micro scratches in the paint on the door where the key was "inserted". I bought an inexpensive (~$45) system on
amazon amazon
that is no longer available. I used these https://rennlist.com/forums/964-forum/226118-keyless-entry-for-90-c4.html instructions to do the install. The range isn't all that far but it sure beats putting the wear and tear on the door/locks.

This was the first thing I did to my 964 when I got it. Really simple to install. As others have said, the range isn't particularly great, but it sure beats wrangling a key and scratching up the door around the lock.

Coincidentally, I also have noticed my Amazon Green C4 has a ton of little scratches from prior owners, more than I've noticed on 964s of other colors. I wonder if that color is more prone to showing scratches.

I wish I had taken a picture when I unlocked my 964 with the Tore lock system at a local PCA meet, I had the "old car" there and they could not believe it had such a feature

I did notice that range can be improved by placement of antenna (away from metal and as vertical as possible) and one other thing, the buttons on the remote were too easy to push (putting remote in pocket could set off system )and I contacted Tore who suggested using the little rubber bands that kids use on their braces behind the buttons. Not having those I took out my assortment of O rings and used some of the smaller ones ...voila,,no longer a problem..

Every time I see light at the end of the DIY tunnel I com across an "interesting post".

With Christmas coming up I'll be spreading ideas like this around hoping someone picks up on it.

Getting it as a gift makes it easier to justify time in the basement garage
