Default BBS Motorsport E28 refurb completed

Today I collected my E28 rims after having them refurbished by a specialist here in the UK called Voodoo Motorsport. When I got the wheels the outer rims had been painted light grey to match the interior of the 964 'show car' they were previously fitted on. When the paint was stripped and the rims were polished there was some fairly deep pitting and Elie at Voodoo suggested replacing the outer hoops was the way forward. A really top guy called Mark Ikeda - a total BBS nut - kindly sourced NOS BBS hoops in the correct sizes and new bolts and inserts for me. Elie had the magnesium centers repainted gold and the inner wheel hoops powder coated black so they not only look good but resist brake dust and don't show it up so badly. As you can see the results are fantastic! I am real happy.

Proper wheels for a 964!! Out of interest have these been silicone sealed or sealing ring and gasket?

They have been gasket sealed and then have a silicone strip for added measure.

New BBS outer hoops and sealing

black powder coated inner hoops and new BBS hardware

Refurb complete

Close up - new paint. Remember E28s were never smooth finish - they're race wheels

Mmmm, I have waited a long time to get a set of these and now they're done - I can't wait to get them on.

Nice! I have the same but in silver.

Question, aren't the screws too long, or is just the pictures? They should sit flat on the outside of the black inserts. Now it looks like they are some mm longer.

Just got my 17" E28s back from Voodoo. I have gone for chrome powder coat on the rims rather than polished, simply for durability - mine are track wheels.
Ivan, I saw your wheels there and they looked lovely. Yours are a slightly darker gold than mine, I think ? I insisted on correct BBS gold, which they had to get in specially.

Well, there you go, every day's a school day. It seems mine are E26 after all - 17" and 20 bolts, whereas E28 are 18"+ and 24 bolts.
Mine were sold to me as E28s by the guy who bought them new - I guess he was wrong !
Otherwise cosmetically very similar and mag centred.........

I have the same wheels on my car and love them. But looking at your rear wheels, looks like the lips are a bit wider than mine. My set up is 1.5" lips with a 8.5" inner barrel. I'm thinking of switching out to a 2" lip and 8" barrel. Do you mind sharing your set up? Just want to compare notes.
