I just purchased my 94 C2 tip. I was thinking of doing a cool retro mod and sprucing up the performance a little. What do you all think I can get away with without killing my resell value?
Thanks,
Sean

If this is a USA car this is a 1 in 200 vehicle. Do not resto mod, do not change to manual. Make sure engine is running properly, there are some reversible changes you can make the exhaust system and engine for a bit more power.

Cars were built the same on assembly line for either. I think convert to manual and save all parts as no damage is done. Who wants to drive a coupe in a chicktronic? Maybe a cripple? I was looking to buy a nice car in a tip and convert it when I was looking for a place for my motor and tranny and had all other pieces needed from my wrecked carcass. It really looks easy as long as you have a donor. Just my 3 cents.

As far as the tip goes... I guess I am a "cripple". I suffered a spinal cord injury about 5 years ago.
This is a US car.
Engine is great, overall it's it very good condition. Not interested in changing to manual as I'm a "cripple".

Ricardo, if you had 10-15k to put into car, what would you do?
Also, when I look up vin for carfax/insurance it says RS America/Carrera. I'm pretty sure it's just a C2, how do I find out?

Don't mind Greg, he's just being a jackass.
It is definitely a C2. With the market for 964s as crazy as it is, personally I would not take a nice example and convert it into a 'real' track car. Although with a 10-15k budget I think you're looking at HPDE type events, as just a suspension and proper cage will kill that budget real quick. DE-type mods should not have a significant impact on resale value.

I wouldn't go the retro mod as it's hard to convert it back to stock, plus I think it'd cost a lot more than your budget.
What I'd maybe do is stick some KWV3 suspension on it with some H&R sway bars to spruce up the handling, replace the rear muffler (primary) with a cup bypass pipe and if your state allows it, replace that CAT with a bypass pipe to make it sound like it should have done from the factory. Then get a Steve Wong chip (http://www.911chips.com) fitted to liven up the motor a bit further. You could also stick a set of 18" rims on it too, but there are some trade offs by fitting these over 17" ones.
Whatever you choose to do, welcome to Rennlist and to 964 ownership!

Thanks Ken. I am really only looking at HDPEs. I should have specified.
Andy, I'll look into doing that. I think I could get away with cat for now, but I'm moving to Cali in a few years and am sure I can't there. I like the 17" wheels and would maybe get a different variance of them if I made a change with the wheels. I have brand new tires and breaks right now.

There are few issues that came up during PPI, but they only amount to about a grand. My 10-15k budget is after those things were done. I have about 32k in car right now which I don't think is too bad since it's only 77K miles.

That's a beautiful car. Do I see wood dash accents? You could order those from the factory as part of an individual customization process. If factory, it should show up on your option code sticker. Quite rare.
