Default Festival of Porsche - Brands Hatch

Had a fun day at the Festival of Porsche today. A great selection of Porsches both new and old including the Lemans Porsche 952 Rothmans driven by Derek Bell. Anyone else go? Saw quite a few 964s in the Porsche owners parking. In fact, this is where I had most fun.... hope you don't mind me sharing a few pics, first of some 964 RSs and then a few of my favouirtes.... (apologies, only had my phone to take pics)

964 RSs

Beautiful concours 911s

Mean looking black 930 turbo

Blue Gulf 2.7 rs recreation

I was there, bumped into Jack.pe as well

Decent day out, but disappointed with what was on offer really

964 wise there were some really nice cars, in particular a black C2 parked at the top of the paddock with big brakes and Heigo cage etc. was my favourite 964 of the day. The original Martini 930, and the red 924 Carrera GT in the concours my other stand outs

Car parks were full of nice macinery, but there were very few trade stands, unless you wanted to spend £200k on a 993RS, or £250k on a 356 Speedster!!

Porsche parade lap had some nice cars, Rothmans 956, Shell 962 (spun by Richard Attwood), Vaillant 935 and 911 GT1 (Felt very old having watched all of them race in period)

But, where were the 917, 908, 904 etc

Racing was decent, but the Speed championship appears to be on its knees judging by the lack of entries, the coverage by the commetators of this event was abysmal as well

Glad I bought at PCGB proces in advance, I wouldnt have been thrilled with £30.00 on the gate

Thats it, utterly stunning, and what appeared to be a totally original and unrestored car as well

I was with Ian Wilson in the dark blue Targa parked beside the gulf blue rs recreation, that car was lovely and sounded nice as we followed it in.

I'll put my photos up on flickr later for those not on my facebook to see.

I went along too. I can understand Freedman's comments regarding a lack of trade stands etc, but it still made for a great day.

Is it just me or is half the attraction of these events spotting other Porsches on the drive there and forming a convoy?

Couple of non 964 shots:

Is the flat nose the 700 BHP car, Jack was talking about?

Richie, I was expecting to see the shot of your car there... not feeling brave enough yet? I reckon you should be, it looks great

Yes, he mentioned it to me when I bumped into him there (very well known car)

Its odd, but I was never a fan of the 930 flat front in era, but they are now hugely appealing.

I decided I want the Martini stripes from the turbo on my car

RichieRoo, I still enjoyed the day, I just expected more from the trade and 'special' Porsche's

And whilst it looked the part I believe the 935 is actually a new buld by DSD and not an original Kremer period car (I stand to be corrcted)

Maybe I'm just getting curmudgeonly in my old age

Didn't make it myself but just found this video. One of the 964 race cars (Mark Sumpter's) being used to give a passenger. The driver being none other than Derek Bell!

i liked the rpmtechnik 996 CSR as well. Looks a pretty sweet package for 25k. Though not sure the HRE wheels would be included . The day was ok. Got there at 1 and left at 4. I didnt feel like I needed any more time there.

funny to see your own car in the pictures, but what a experience
it was my first time brands hatch and England.
In my experience it was a great event, the ethos on the circuit on friday saturday and sunday was awesome, way better than a few big events in the Netherlands and Germany.
