Yeah Doug, Dumbo ears and chubby D90's on a lowered chassis. The Sleeper.

That's David "Magnus" B talking for you :-). Im rating less than 5% each will become design classics on 964s. Id rather Cup 1 or Speedlines with tear drop - both were designed for the 964 and the mirrors carried through for the 993. Both designs are modern classics IMO. They never made a nicer mirror until 991 GT3/991TT. They actually did even better on the Cup 2 & 993RS speedlines but then lost their mojo for wheels until 996.1 GT3 and much later 991 GT3 again IMO....very subjective this stuff....

Each to his own taste Macca. I can always upgrade the mirrors in future and the purpose of the rebuild was just to get back to where I was without spending silly money

Agree Doug. Tried to litter "IMO" throughout to underline that point. Mostly tounge in cheek aesthetic debate with my creative buddy David. I think the car is largely being kept original and this looks good how it is. Youve done well to keep it in below budget. Congrats so far.

Love the clean red caliper look. And from the thumbs ups of other drivers when you gave me that ride back from HD I'd be tempted to keep the flags too.

Keen to check out Lola reborn while she's minty fresh - if you're going to be bringing her up past Drury on a weekday maybe give me a yell and lets grab some coffee nearby, or at least let me ogle her a bit.

Default Rebuilding 964 Lola after my accident

Well an exciting day today. Up at 5:30am for a quick trip down to Europacific at Pirongia to meet Steve R and check out Lola who's is 98% complete. The boys had given her a good clean and lovely polish. We swapped the track wheels for the Cup 2's, attached the plates and took her for a 15 minute run up the road. I'm extremely happy with the fantastic job that Steve, Norl and his team have done to get her back looking better than ever. Only engine steam clean, headlight surrounds, wiper pain and a few minor touch ups plus some shakedown use to go. I'm picking her up next Saturday. Anyone want to come?

Here's a bunch of photos. Bloody video loads to YouTube but then says "publish failed" :-(

Hey Doug, pencil me in for Saturday to drop you down there. I'd have to be pushing off early and subject to cricket matches. Our main games have moved to Sunday for the world cup so should be fairly safe.

Thanks Dave. My 80 year old Dad promised to take me down when the time comes so I'd better check in with him first. I think he was looking at it for some nice Dad and son time. He dropped in a few months ago on his way back from Te Kuiti and Steve was so nice to him showing him around the workshop and showing him progress on the car :-). Would be lovely to have your company too mate and we can check out the Orange T!
