Street Daddy,

You're not alone.

In the quest to figure out why my battery drains out so quickly, I took the car to an electrical specialist - he couldn't figure out the reason (so I've resorted to fitting a kill switch) BUT he did discover the same problem as yours - absolutely soaking wet foam on driver side. He'd also never seen anything like it, just dripping wet and let me tell you, that's an expensive piece of foam if you ask Porsche for a replacement.

So as the windscreen seal is as tight as a nut and I don't have a sunroof, reading these posts maybe the washer nozzels or AC drain are the culprits.

Thanks,

TJ

Default Check the front bulkhead..

When I bought my car, only the passenger side was soaked...not the carpet, only the underlayment. What I discovered was that the plastic shield protecting the blower motors and servos was installed incorrectly. Someone had placed it over the bonnet cover. I was ever so slightly noticeable unless you were in bright light... my car is black and it was a late evening in November.

I strongly suspect that you have a hood/bonnet seal issue based on your description of the water location. Secondarily, It could be the door membranes.... But mine were intact. There have been others reporting that is what they found.

Have you driven in heavy rain recently? Maybe something to look into.

The source of wet floors on my c24fun was a dried out fender seal on the top of the driver side fender (where it meets the sheet metal at the bottom of the windshield). This allowed water coming off the hood and windshield to find its way into the footwell. Just another possibility!

Cheers!

Boxsey911,
I think you nailed it! I slowly went around pouring water over all the possible leak points. Thought it was the windshield seals. Took the car to window repair shop. They taped off windshield and it still leaked! Almost gave up and we taped off the windshield sprayers and no leak. Then took it off and 'boom' leak started. Will double check tomorrow to make sure.
On a side note, the waterproof tape really helps to rule out what is leaking.

I looked at your blog and didn't see anything about replacing the nozzles. Did you just get new seals?

Nothing on the blog yet about the nozzles because I've not updated it for a while. I did a temporary fix on the nozzle seal by lifting the nozzle and smearing it with silcone grease (not silicone sealant). This has been enough to prevent water getting past the seal. When I get time, I will lift the nozzle again and try to clean up the seal. If that doesn't work, I'll have to buy a new nozzle because the seal isn't available separately.

As an update for you Streetdaddy, I pulled up the nozzle at the weekend, separated the seal from the body and cleaned it both sides with silicone cleaner (the type used for rubber trim pieces). Then cleaned around the hole in the scuttle and pressed it back into place. We had hard rain last night and it didn't leak. My guess is that dirt on and around the seal had made it leak.

Well, not so fast! I pulled both of my nozzles up and there are no seals underneath. I went by my local Porsche dealer and they( and Pelican) dont just sell the seal. Have to buy the whole nozzle. $100 for 2)So, can i just run a silicone bead around them? Hate to buy 2 complete nozzles for a 10 cent seal.

Can you find a gasket material, cut to size, and install? Or install then carefully cut to size once it's on the car.
