Default Porsche OEM flat six classic oil?

http://www.porsche.com/canada/en/acc...m_medium=email

Wonder who makes this. Any good?

The description from Porsche, while possibly all marketing bs, does bespeak serious thought being put into the oil's development - with specific notions of storage and short runs being discussed. Either they DID build a good oil - or worked hard at lying about it. ; )

I know there have been deep, passionate dicussions on the topic of oil - I wonder where this stuff fits into the heirarchy of lubricants.

A fair few people who have run 10w 60 report engines running hot and loss of performance so I am a bit skeptical tbh. Its not as if the old cars are covered by warranty if the oil isn't so great so Porsche hasn't got much to lose...

I am curious to hear about this oil. I will stick to Mobil 1 for V twin 20/50. Let the ten page thread commence...

Default My experience w/Brad Penn

I have been using Brad Penn since I bought a Magical Mystical 6 upgrade kit from Motor Meister.
The 2.4L was able to get up to 16lbs pressure at about 4500 RPM's. Poor oil pump and bad purchase judgement. I need say no more.
The Brad Penn and some Lucas oil additive let me put 20,000+ hard street miles and at least 6 DE days a year even with the oil light on below 1100 RPM.
I finally killed that engine with a bit too spirited DE driving.
Recently I bought an 89 C4 which was supposed to leak pretty badly and the owner didnot want to spend any more $ with his mechanic.
I dropped the oil , mobile one I think, and changed to 20/50 Brad Penn plus half a quart of the Lucas additive.(Flame on we used it at the farm it works) and after 3000 miles on the C4 I am not dropping oil anywhere.
I like the Brad Penn also for the ZDPP additive which helps a lot with high pressure wear, such as the cam. We used to use chrysley EOS oil additive to get the additive package but that went away years ago.
LN Engineering used to have some really good oil info on their site but I haven't looked lately.

I just saw that at the dealer today. Pretty can! I found a local source for Brad Penn, so next oil change that's what my car will be drinking.

Whatever 20/50 is on sale. The stuff goes through the car like s**t through a goose. She gets a fresh filter every 6K km with a full oil refresh anyway. Why spend more?

I agree on the not spend more, but so long as I am not spending more for a reasonably good oil that's appropriate for the engine and doesn't cause too much cam lobe wear due to the mandated reduction of zddp in US engine oils...

12 pack of brad penn is 67 dollars on amazon...cheep enough for me.
