Track Wheels for C4 - 17" or 18"
Wondered about this. Obviously 18" will give more grip but then the C4 does not really need it, certainly not in terms of coming out of corners.. so would the extra frictional losses and bigger weight from wider 18" rims still make them a better track proposition Vs 17" on a 964 C4?

Personally I prefer 18s as you know, less profile = less tyre wobble in bends. As for weight, all depends on the choice of wheel... OZ Alegitas are very popular, weigh little and are decently priced. I personally wouldn't decide on 18s vs 17s based on weight.
I personally found that actually with more meat at the front I reduced understeer (combined with other mods). Overall I found that 225 and 265 works great.
I also found that with a C4 you can afford to be more aggressive with your camber setting due to all wheels being driven. Therefore a wider tyre has more contact patch with lots of negative camber than a skinnier tyre with less negative camber...
£ 1,300 for a set of new track wheels ain't bad,

Racing, or DE?
I think that given my (lack of) talent I'd appreciate the increased forgiveness that the taller sidewall could afford.
Also, insofar as *my* interest would be DE and not racing, I'd rather the car slid gracefully, so again I think the taller sidewall would win out.
Naturally, YMMV!

Personally I would run the 17's on a narrow bodied car I've always felt the 964 on 18's felt a little over wheeled and not as planted. The key issue is to get some light but strong wheels that's where the improvements are to be gained. The main problem with a C4 is the inherent understeer it has built in always an issue I had when mine was 4WD. I eventually got it all but dialled out which allowed me to corner harder but then I damaged the front power take off unit! Blew the baby apart!

Earlydays,
Does that really matter!
We are not talking 991 GT3 and still under warranty.
Did Porsche make an official announcement that you should not use 18" wheels?

I'll look into options on 18s too.. but for now swinging towards the 17s. Are track tires cheaper in either size? 18s will be more common i expect..
