Yeah i think if i can do a lightweight exhaust, intercooler and engine lid it wont actually add *that much weight compared to a full fat full exhaust 964 lump - well thats my target anyway. No cats, open exhaust + remap should see some healthy gains too on a standard lump.

Nice project Prior to my rebuild, I was looking for a 993TT lump - didn't really find one in my casual search. May still go that route in the future - for me it's a better option than 3.8/ECU etc. Looking forward to the updates

Yup that was the thing for me too, ive got a quick ib and to make a 964 as exciting using na mods it gets expensive very quickly and you pay for r&d through the nose. Porsche have already done the r&d on the 993tt lump so in semi standard tune in a light 2wd car it should be pretty good fun

Oh, was just thinking how cool this would be today... I like the covert standard looking 964 idea, especially with some D90's and flag mirrors perhaps?! As Stuart says, would surprise 991 owners!!
I also like the idea of sticking it in a wide body conversion, a la 3.8 RS with NB rear trailing arms. I keep toying with the idea of going 3.8RS on my car...
Good luck, look forward to the build thread.

awesome Jev, I've been watching that engine on Ebay for weeks and weeks, almost called the seller a couple of time so thanks for taking the temptation away
got to keep your 964 a sleeper, nothing but a twin exhaust to give the game away, by the time any driver notices that it game over so doesn't matter
what gearbox you going to use???

always pleased to do a mate a favor.
I'm gona go standard 5 speed just to see why it gets all the hate but I will probably keep my eye out for an appropriate 6 speed for V2.

Gonna be a great project, I'd just give it a quick once over, change anything hard to get to & sling it in ASAP.
Shouldn't take more than a month or two, you may as well book WS now!

Have you read 964TT's thread, not sure what he's gone for, but it might worth finding out.
He avoided the 993 6 speed because of the gear ratios if I remember correctly.

The 964 Turbo box is stronger and has different ratios, among which a longer 5th (than the original 964 G50). Also comes with an LSD, but I'm replacing that with a Guard one anyway.
With 640Nm I figured more gears is just a hassle.
Perhaps on track a 6speed would really make a difference. If it does I might change that in a couple of years.
