Default RWB modified cars, what's your opinion?

I stumbled across a video of a 964 being modified by RWB last night and of course end up watching several videos of cars being modified.

I've known about RWB for a few years now, since I my interest in 964's developed.

I actually like the way the look, but you never hear the back story of these cars, who owns them and if the have had any other mods done to them.
I started to ask myself, how good is the work that has been done?

There seems to be a lot of cutting and grinding to make things fit and a bit of spray paint here and there, but does this work hold up of are these cars going to look tatty with bits hanging off of them in 12 months time or so.

So what do you guys think?

Have any of you seen a 964 or 993 being modified?

Has anyone driven one?

Does anyone on RL own one or knows anyone that owns one?

Seems to be all show and no go. I can't see the point of a car like that.

Got to agree with James there. Also that kind of offset/ width wheels I imagine would cause issues to wheel bearings, handling, transmission/ drivetrain stress etc...

Judging by the motor in this pic, this one seems to be packing some "go" too.

Vandit - any more pics of that ^^^ Loving the no compromise lexan!

Never seen an RWB in the flesh but have seen the grey 993 widebody in the UK...which looked turd.

What I do like about RWB is it probably does the 'hot rod' thing quite well...I love the way they mix the tails up for example - ducktail, GT, whale - and on the wide body its hard to not look good.

Most if not all the ones I have seen on the web have definitely have a lot of go from looking at the engines.

Pop's, can you post some photo's like Vandit or a link.

i find them very interesting, but not for, I do want to know more about them.

As James thinks they are for show, not go, we might all think the same and be wrong.

i want to know if they are a quality conversion or just tape and glue and screw.

its hard to comment but in essence The factory 993GT was butchered in a similar way with plastic arches riveted/bolted to the sides for track use I think the theory behind it was race cars on track brush shoulders with other race cars and the plastic arches where designed to make it easy for the pit crews to repair and put back into a race a damaged 993gt2. but if you look at the way the rear arch is cut on a 993 gt2 it looks scary but it was cut the same way by factory apparently. I do prefer the 993 gt2 look better then the RWB look on 993 I think RWB looks better on a 964 then it does on a 993. I guess they will look ultimately tatty after the test of time or will need attention every few years as body kits do not hold as good in my opinion.

I like them. But I wouldn't cut up a perfectly fine 964 to do it. I'd only do it to a 964 that has been wrecked or damaged in some way. That way, I wouldn't feel bad about cutting it up. I also wouldn't do it if it was to be a street car. If it was my dedicated track car, then maybe. But I do love the way they look. The fenders and the deep wheels.

I like them, you get the impression they are going for the slightly tatty "put away wet" look, and for me they can go a bit too "because race car" - the artfully shambolic interior's are case in point.

I do like the lack of preciousness: cut it up, stick on some massive arches with some self tappers add hella flush wheels and take it out and thrash it like a boss.
