Looks clean from the photos. it struck me as funny when it said "mostly original" paint. It would be easier to just say what had been repainted. By my math, its done 10k/mi in the last 10 years. I wonder how the rubber seals are holding up with that infrequent use...

I talked to the sellers also. They disclosed ...

1) Has had a "minor" accident, rear ended (& recorded on Carfax).

2) Engine rebuild is stated but no authenticating documentation available.

3) Leaking at valve covers, needs tyres, clutch slave cylinder, valve adjust, rear light refurb etc.

A quality independent PPI would be the way to go forward.

Yes above Is correct, they "assume" it has had a top end, front and rear bumper repainted from accident, quarter size blemish on rr fender where the paint has been rubbed down to primer. Interior not terrible but would need work. Odd delamination effect on rear window around heater strips. Seller said clutch pedal feels weird.
He started it up and man it did sound good though!! Made me want to get my check book out.
If I wanted a black car I would probably pay no more than 34k for it if ppi showed ok.

38 for the car is fair in the market at least in LA. You go find a C2 Manual coupe under 100k or documented engine rebuild work with more miles that needs NOTHING = 55k+ maybe more.

So you buy a 38k car, needs 5k in misc refurb + 15-20k in engine and you're there.

Unless you have the skills to do the work yourself, better to buy done already.

As someone here noted recently, they are all $50K cars. Whether you spend it upfront, or in increments after you buy it, that's where a 964 is these days. Before any major upgrades.

Mileage is not the killer as much as how it is stored. My turbo has traveled 10k miles in the last 10 years. The original rubber seals and hoses are like new but the car has been stored in a climate and humidity controlled environment all the years I have owned it and AFAIK all of its previous years. I would be more concerned about a car that has sat outside or stored in a moist environment with temperature extremes.

If that is actually one of the 6 or so made I guess you can ask anything you want.
