c2 in dallas

i'm probably the least knowledge on this forum about porsche's but a quick google search determines that to be incorrect, which is why i opted to speak with the shop. long story short, the shop told me the car would need a minimum of 12k to be drivable again... whether or not someone wants to purchase this roller and the engine in boxes and take on the project themselves is up to them, but that 12k quote turned me off as a potential buyer. if you click the link, it has been updated with more pictures even with a rebuilt motor i wouldnt want to pay ~28k for a 964 in that condition especially since it still needs repairs to fix rust.

I figured something was a mess from the vague description of the motor. The car is probably a good starting point, but not for $16.5k.
What shop is it at?

Vandit, it was the shop I messaged you about. I rather not post it here simply out of respect for owner of the shop's business. I wouldn't want his business phone blowing up from potential calls about this car. When I called and inquired, he took my name and number and called me about 2 hours later. He didnt sound too thrilled to be discussing details lol.

If you consider the market for these now for C2's and the prices being asked, then I don't think this is to far off price wise.
Whe I was looking 12 months ago, I didn't find much that appealed to me for less than $27k.
I had 2 PPI's done and found approx. $6 - $8k of work required in both cases, made corrected offers which were rejected.
Both would have ended up costing me $30 - $36k plus and they still may have needed an engine rebuild at some point.
With this car, you have a base of $16k + $12 for engine, and allow $4k for sundries and you have a good sound car with a better starting point than a car for $30k that may still need an engine rebuild.
When you buy these cars, you've got to expect to start spending money on them to improve them as they will all need something some time in you ownership.

Post #17, poster didn't look at it, but got what sounds like a straight shooting opinion from the owner's mechanic, which happens to be the shop where the car currently lays in pieces, needing considerable engine work before it can be reassembled.
