Default How crazy is this?

I know the market has gone crazy for air-cooled 911's and there are more threads about pricing than anything else but this makes the $149k RSA look reasonable.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...US_Cars_Trucks

I know it is clean ultra low mileage, but seriously. I am not saying the day won't come when these prices are a reality only time will tell, but will someone actually look at this car at this price in this market?

For those speedster aficionados are the wheels correct? Every 964 speedster I have seen came with color matched wheels.

I saw this on eBay last night. I was waiting for the $265k 964 Speedster thread.

Wow strong asking.

It's interesting to a see a lot of collectors bringing their cars to market to take advantage of the super hot air cooled market. I'm not sure this seller will get their asking price but the market will decide.

Really? Condition, obviously great. Color: it's not Signal Green or Maritime Blue. Also it has the less desirable Comfort Seats. Looking at the window sticker, it was delivered with red backed speedster seats. It was not unusual for the seats to be swapped prior to delivery if the buyer was too wide in the rear to fit in the speedster seats!

Not sure on the color coded wheels. I've seen both. I'm guessing the color coding was an option.

Sienfeld's '94 Maritime Blue Factory 3.8 Speedster is local to me, it's unique even by speedster standards and has many extras that were added for Jerry at the factory. Now if that was for sale I could see $250k or higher not being unreasonable in this market.

For $250k it needs new instrument cluster gaskets. Personally this seems like a really silly way to spend a quarter of a million dollars - there is a laundry list of (IMO) cooler Porsches that money would get you.

I missed that, the painted wheels and rim caps were a $320 option. I guess silver finish was stock?

So at least $5k+ and a lot of patients to find the correct red speedster seats and $1k to strip and refinish the wheels to body color and the car is as delivered.

A bargain at $270,500 plus shipping to your door!

At second glance he does say
COMPLETELY STOCK (OTHER THAN A NEW BATTERY).
I didn't look closely at the window sticker but it does say painted seat accents and painted rims. The speedster seats are at least $6-8k lately if you can find them. Here's a set. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...ba441c&vxp=mtr

Makes you wonder how many actual miles it has or what else has been touched?

Seems like more and more of these ads keep popping up asking ridiculous prices. Don't think any are selling. Maybe I should start a thread on outlandishly priced Porsche's. It could be entertaining

A friend of mine purchased a similar car with a little more mileage a year ago with the proper wheels and seats for around $75k.

nice example, but the 964 speedster market is not at the same level as the 356 speedster market.

This is 356 speedster money….

Just think for that price you could have your own fleet of 964s.......say half a dozen or more in your favorite colors.

I 'd like to see the "Final Price" fee from ebay,....

Wouldn't that be more appropriate at a more luxurious auction stand, such as Gooding & Company, Barrett Jackson, etc,...

But are any of these cars even selling? I would think the answer is "no" except that high mileage 3.8RS that sold for $350k several months ago.

You can still find some higher mileage AR's and C4 wide body cars in the $50's any clean example sub 10k miles will command a serious premium over average prices. So I would expect a 5k mile AR should fetch north of 6 figures assuming all is in order. It will not be a quick sell. Prices will continue to climb but how far and how fast?

If they are I would be surprised although stranger things have happened. Someone is currently bidding up a 78 930 that hasn't run in 18 years it is at nearly $50k and cleaner running low mileage 930's are seeing north of that. A 3.8 RS will easily fetch $350K no matter the history It is an extremely rare car unlike the speedster and they rarely come up for sale.

There will be many more cars discussed with asking prices triple+ their value. Although the right cars are seeing a serious serge in price. I was shocked when the sister to my turbo sold for $169k but if you want one in cobalt blue you only have 3 to choose from in the US so I guess that makes sense. Being a plain Jane speedster with parts missing will not bring this money although I am sure someone will offer far too much and be happy with the car and if the market keeps going ballistic it may be a fair buy.

messaged to ask if they have the original seats or wheels. from the seller:

This is a one owner from new 964 Speedster.

At the time if purchase, the owner opted to have the Dealer install standard seats and wheels.

That said, I have three sets of Genuine Porsche 964 Speedster seats (all with Guards Red shells).

The wheels can easily be re-finished in Guards Red.
