The correct tyre sizes for 18" rims are 225/40 and 265/35, certainly not the 255/35 that have been fitted. You have to be careful with the Carrera 4 that you run matched tyres front and rear, otherwise the 4wd system gets "confused" about the wheel speeds and tries to correct the error thinking it is a wheel slip issue.

Other than that, nothing there to really worry about from what I can see, just look very carefully for any sign of chassis repairs.

Lack of history is frustrating, in my view that would place the car closer to £20k than £25k or more.

What brilliant advice! Highly professional and to be respected. In my opinion.

Look what I found when lurking the old ads in Schweden....

Also you can see asking price but not final and sold price of the 964

I just put the tire sizes in a calculator 225/40 up front and 255/35 in rear as you have and also the other 265/35.
Look at the difference of the two sets in the pictures... +0,2 and - 0,9

Good luck today :-)

I have the same wheels and run the same size tyres.
F 8.5" 225/40/18
R 9.5" 255/35/18

C4 has a max 6% rolling correction factor between front and rear wheels.

The PDAS/ABS control unit is preprogrammed with a value of around 851 revolutions per mile.
And as can be seen on my tire calculation values above we are getting a lower value with this set of wheels.

We are even safe of the 6 % since we are + 0,2 %

Thank you for alle the advise, you guys are great!

Research is still ongoing, and now I know the registration number when it was in Sweden. Unfortunately the Porsche center who supposedly stamped the book, have no data on the car. Dealer told me that it comes from a major classic car dealer in Sweden (Auto classica) so they would see if they have any data on the car.

Talked with the dealer today, and if I buy the car, he would perform a major service (20k km) on the car, and otherwise ensured me that the car is in a condition as good as it really seams. The porsche scene is very small in denmark (as denmark is generally), and he does not want to jeopardise the company's reputation by selling a lemon.

Two guys want to try out the car tomorrow, so I really want to decide today......

Your theory is bang on the nail Per, the only thing that you are not allowing for is that all manufacturers have a wide tolerance on width and diameter when they nominate a size for the tyre, hence the best plan is to decide what make of tyre you want to run and check the rolling diameter on the manufacturer's data.

So we have a winner :-)

You will not regret it and you have gotten some more information about its state and history.
We could try finding some earlier owners to get more of its history

Do you need some chains for those winter tires?
I guess you really want to use it now when the snow has finally arrived ;-)
