Goe Lycke med PPI

Did you get the old registration number, when the car was in Schweden?
If so I can try to get some more info about that terrible colored boxer 6 ;-)

Let us know of your outcome and more pictures of any findings

chrome the rims and lower it a bit.
Saw a 964 widebody in this color, lowered with these (or similar) rims in chrome. Looked absolutely beautiful.

I definetely wouldn't hesitate on this colour too.
For some reason a 964 really looks good in colours that make other cars fail (like this color, mint green, white, pinkish rs color, blue rs color, etc.)

That color is cool as hell; would not hesitate if the mechanics were sound.

Default No service history!

Back from inspection.
I could not find an available "Porsche" mechanic, so I brought my dad. He´s an old school mechanic who knows everything about VW beetles and analog cars in general.

Let me list what I have found:

Front brake disc a little bit uneven
Both front tires had some funny wear on the outside thread (see picture)
Dampers on boot lid and engine lid needs to be replaced.
A couple of missing bolts for the engine cover.
Sticker on the inside front wing very unclear (see picture).
Passenger side window switch working but not completely fixed.
Rear view mirror loose.
Right rear taillight small scratch.
5-6 very small chips on the front.
two penny size missing clear coats on the front right wing, and 1 penny side clear coat missing on the rear side at the end of the rain gutter.

Overall the interior is in really good condition, as is the car.
Engine had what look like a very minor oil drip, otherwise it was very dry. The Valve covers was dry as a bone.
New complete Bilstein adjustable suspension.
No damages to rims.
New right rear drive shaft.
Fairly new cup exhaust pipe (not complete exhaust).

BUT! Finally I had a look at the service history, and it was pretty much empty. Book look like new, and only had two stamps. From a Swedish Porsche dealer (car was purchased in Sweden prior to coming to Denmark), at 144.000 kilometers. Currently the odometer showed 175.000 kilometer.

I have a really hard time figuring out how much impact this has on the car, and the value of the car.
Overall I think the car is in excellent condition, and my father was very impressed with the state of the car, but know I just don´t know.

Car is priced at 31.000 euro (41.000$), which seems fair.

Please advise guys

Sticker on the inside front wing very unclear (see picture).
- This is just the paint code and I wouldn't worry (personally) about that.

Passenger side window switch working but not completely fixed.
- These are pretty cheap and easy to fix - they just pull out.

Both front tires had some funny wear on the outside thread (see picture)
- This looks to me like the tire is rubbing against the wheel arch. If you have 18" rims fitted it's recommended you modify (cut off) a bracket inside the arch which can cause this.

Dampers on boot lid and engine lid needs to be replaced.
Easily fixed by new dampers or a broom handle cut in half!

The main issue I would have is with the history and you have no idea when the clutch was last replaced etc, but at the end of the day, buy on the condition of the car. If you like it, then go for it. The price seems ok, but maybe a little on the high side. Will they give it a full 20,000km service and some new front tires for the advertised price as the rest of the items are pretty low cost to fix.

Here's a pic of the wheel arch modification and a thread about it:

Thanx Andy, all I have found was very little minor cheap things, so I really feel tempted. As my father said when we talked afterwards "there is nothing worth mentioning wrong about this car".

Thank you for solving the front tire mystery, it seems very plausible especially since the ride height is all the way down.

What is covered by a 20k km service?
I don´t know what can be negotiated, I know that the company as a standard don´t do any warranty on any "old" used cars. It´s a two man company, and the mechanic is german. The mechanic has a very good reputation in Denmark and seems very honest (of curse he can be bias), but for instance he mentioned that the small front lights was a complete set of 125€ and 1 rear taillight (the one which was scratched) was 500€ if you we lucky to find one. The mechanic says that 964´s in this good condition are very hard to find.....

How did she drive, did it feel good solid and rattle free?
How was the gear change, did the clutch feel ok etc etc.
If she was enjoyable to drive everything felt good, then you only need to decide what the right price is for you.

From what I know prices in Scandinavia are higher the most of Europe, LHD cars demand a higher price anyway.
If you can negotiate the price to what you're happy with and a service at least can be included, then I'd go for it.
It's a beautiful colour, has a great set of wheel etc etc.
Of course it's more difficult when you can't see a service history, but if she's in a pretty good condition, someone must have loved her!

Hi- just picked up this thread.

I agree that the Amethyst/Black combo looks great. Wheels are awesome- i have been hunting for some cup 1's for my C4 (i must get on and post my intro) but boy would i like a set of those.
I live in France and i'm not quite sure how prices differ between here and Denmark. The car has a country code OO which means it was originally sold in Germany. My own car was originally in italy so no real problem for me. The lack of any real history would be an issue for me- in particular at that price. A C4 coupe here at circa 30K+ euros would need to have a well documented history. Do you see yourself holding onto the car for a long time? have you looked at many others?

Check out www.leboncoin.fr to see what they are fetching here.

Bonne courage

Peter
