The list of mods to the Growler is quite long if you want to get down to all of the details but 2650ish with a little gas as it drove onto the lift. Call it sub 2700lb wet if you want to be pedantic.

James put on all of the Euro RS parts, thin glass being the one weight savings ones. Tyson Schmidt was the next enthusiast owners. Tyson is rather fanatical about weight loss. For those that don't know him, he began his Porsche career at TRE building Jack Olsen's BB2 and then moved on to WEVO, building much of Pete Von Behren's water cooled cup motored, lengthened wheel base, g50 6-speed, PCCB braked, carbon fiber bodied, '69 912 RSR, PVX. He now has started his own shop now in Burbank CA called Pro Motorsport after finishing off The Growler for Alex while he worked for HRG. So Tyson knows a thing or two about building fast 911s.

Needless to say, the car had the right stuff when Alex bought it, it was just a little ridden hard and put away wet looking on the interior and finish details. Hence the name and it's double entendre coined by all of our mutual friend, Carolyn Pappas, of the POC who drives a 914-6 she calls Bubba.

My first weigh in with 1/4 tank of fuel was slightly lighter than 2650lbs, my car was stock but stripped down to almost its bare bones.

My 'to do list' is still quite long and I think it should be possible to remove 450ish lbs before having to start cutting or fitting lightweight parts.

The devil is in the detail so with the right people doing the dieting I can believe its missing 400lbs

Just trying to see how they did it with power windows ventilation and A/C. I just went through a build and my goal was 2650 but it took far more than expected. I came in at 2730 dry fully gutted but full cage plexi windows same weight as light weight glass but the turbo body in steel and my friend covering the entire car in expel film didn't help. The twin turbo varioram with inter cooler also hurt me but the 450 Hp makes up were I fell short.

Where is this shop in Burbank? I'd like to get some stuff worked out on my 964 and like to see what options I have.

The last time my car was corner balanced it was 2840 with 3/4 tank if I remember correctly. Thats pre- roll bar and plexi rear screen. And I still have ac and a sunroof. I don't think 2650 is unrealistic. Hell now I have a new goal. Loved the pics when they were first posted and the video is even better. Very unique sounding

Great story, watched the video earlier this week and loved it!

FWIW my old RSA was 2,740 dry (no sunroof, no radio, no A/C) with supercharger, Recaro PP seats, Big Reds, and a DAS Roll bar. That thing was an animal.

My widebody was 1240kg (which is around 2730lb) with a little bit of fuel in - my interior is RS spec with half cage, poly carb windows, manual steering rack, manual windows, non-sunroof, no A/C etc etc

I poured myself a bourbon and watched a lot of those petrolicious videos last night. Some really cool stories!

Tyson is a freakin' genius.

PRO Motorsports

508 S. Victory Blvd, in Burbank

Trivia:I got to spend a little time with the Growler, a few years back. It's a great car.

And even though Petrolicious did a video about my own '72, my favorite clip of theirs is still this one.

I'm at 1190 kg/2625 lb with 10 litres of fuel. Going below this takes some effort as Cobalt says like plastic, lexan etc. I want a solid "factory feeling" in my car like the Cup cars. So therefore this is more or less my bottom line.

I just pulled the most recent alignment and corner balance sheet I have on file for "The Growler" and it is listed at 2658 w/o driver weight and about 3/4 tank of fuel. This was just after we added the cage, Recaro seats, Rothsport strut brace, and some interior delete panels. The interior finishing work and roof skin had just been completed also.

What is the lowest weight a C4 can achieve comfortably (without going to plexiglass and retaining the AC)?
