Did anybody ever look into dropping the seat a bit lower? Always thought it to be a bit high. Not too close to the roof, I have a non sunroof car, but just high in the seat.
My original Speedster/RS seats (with springy bottom) won't drop any lower so since my car is at the body shop I asked them to look into this and perhaps lower the mount on the body a bit.
This seems to be the only solution.
I'll get some photos.
Anybody ever done this?

You are correct that deck height is important. In fact I would go as far as saying that it is one of the most important measurements in the engine because it determines the squish performance of the combustion space. Too close and the piston could kiss the head when it stretches under load and furthermore the squish velocity increases, speeding up the burn at a risk of pre-ignition and partial combustion. Too wide and the squish gap is ineffective, creating hot spots in the chamber or worst case inducing detonation. 1.0mm is a safe standard 0.8mm is perfect provided you have calculated the rod stretch correctly at the maximum speed of the engine. If you cannot do the maths, work out the piston G at peak rpm, hang the equivalent weight on the end of the conrod and measure by how much it stretches. You will need around 3 tonnes for a 600g piston at circa 5000G.

Excellent, thanks for those photos Colin!
As far as the shimming goes I leave that up to the builder now, he has the engine. So whatever he decided I am fine with, he has experience and I trust him to do well.

And here's the finished work of the front end rebuild.
This is going to be so much better for cooling the intercooler and for the oil coolers as well.

New situation of the front end. Excellent how the oil coolers are placed and the radiator for the intercooler will get great flow.
Very happy with the result, just need to reorganize the frunk... Not much space left. Pump for power steering still needs to get connected.

Waiting eagerly for the engine, should be done in a couple of weeks. Edelweiss who designed the engine works closely with Mezger Werks where the engine is now. They are getting the whole thing measured, adjusted and back together.

Excellent, looks like I'll be picking up my engine very soon. Perhaps early next week!
We are also installing a scavenge pump for the turbos, with a delay so it runs a bit longer when you turn off the engine.
Cant wait to get driving again, very excited!

Yes, already missing some track days...
Luckily the engine is done tomorrow so I'll pick it up end of the week in Germany.
Then it's just a matter of putting the engine back in.
Readjust the ECU and running in the engine is the only thing left to do then...

I know how you must be feeling.
We are missing the first race of the Squadra Italia on april 8th because of too much work and too little time...
(and my brother crashing the Alfa at Spa in november, which meant that we could start preparing only one month ago when it came back from the body shop)

Matthias Höing from Mezgerwerk in Hamburg build it and Dirk in Essen designed it. They collaborated on finishing it up.
In the end it all worked out fine, can't wait to get engine back.
