Interest in a UK 964 sprint series?

Thanks for clarifying that. I'd assumed it had the same exclusion regarding the drive train as the race series but having just checked the speed regs, I now see that all models are welcome.

Anyone else fancy a bit? boxsey, masher, bigunit, freedman, cheeksyboy, asbi, oldtimer ?
I just got an email from Darin with some more details.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your mail.
I've just popped on to Rennlist (not registered!) to have a look at your thread, and it's great to see there are a number of guys interested already. I appreciate it's VERY early days yet, so that number could easily grow, or equally reduce if the dates/venues don't work for your guys - or indeed disappear entirely if you decide to take part in the PCSC!
Just to help with a little more info . . . the MLR Sprint Series also hosts the 22B.com Sprint Series and will be in it's 8th year in 2014. It's become increasing popular as a great way to enjoy some competitive motorsport without breaking the bank, so much so the 7 dates I hope to confirm as the 2014 calendar might fill up quite quickly and not allow places for Guess class entrants (although you never know!).
For this reason though I'm looking to introduce 3 'double-header' dates next year (which could be a Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on venue) - with the Friday or Sunday being for other guys who wanted to get involved; GTROC, 964/Rennlist etc. I've also sent an email to Glen at PureGT as it's been suggested they'd also be interested.
Here's the timetable for a normal Sprint event:
08:00 Driver Registration
08:45 Driver Briefing
09:15 Sighting lap – compulsory for all drivers
09:30 Practice Runs Start (usually 4-6 runs)
12:00 Lunch
13:00 Competitive Runs start (usually 6-8 runs)
16:30 Event closes and trophies awarded
We always try to give drivers at least 10 runs so they have a good day in the car, there's no requirement for a competition licence, and events in 2013 were £129 each. Generally speaking they're a very social day on track with the added bonus of an element of competition! Having a look here will probably help to give you a better idea of a Sprint:
(the first round from Snetterton this year)

All the best,
Darin

This year's 7 venues;
Snetterton
Blyton
Kames
Oulton rally circuit
Castle coombe
Hethel lotus track
Teesside
So I think Darin is suggesting expanding 3 of these dates into weekends and have a day for non MLR groups.
I'm not sure the 3 venues have been finalised but I think Snetterton and Castle Combe were mentioned.

Alex,
I would certainly be interested in running a few events
I'm already planning to do the Crystal Palace Sprint at the end of May, after wanting to do that for a long time

30 odd GTRs signed up so Darin has been able to three confirmed dates:
Fri. 28th March Castle Combe
Sun. 1st June Blyton Park
Sun. 5th Oct Snetterton.
If you wish to enter the other MLR Sprint rounds you can do so as a "Guest" if they have spare places available, these dates are:
Sat. 29th March Castle Combe
Sat. 26th April Oulton Rally track
Sat. 31st May Blyton Park
Sat 28th June Hethel
Sat 30th Aug Teeside
Regs and final details will be published later however a couple of things to be thinking about, cars must have a current MOT however they can be trailered to the event. Road tyres must be used with no tyre softeners added, you can use Toyo R888, Yoko AD08s, Federal RSR etc as they are road tyres. Helmets are compulsory and fireproof overalls are recommended. Car must have an extinguisher fitted which can be reached by the driver in the event of an incident. (I'll check the details of that last one - I suspect it might just mean buying a bracket and borrowing an extinguisher - nothing plumbed in though).

Just seen the vid - looks brill. Two questions...any noise regs and insurance - is this something that competition car insurance would cover as an organised event or separate cover needed (if so typical cost?).

*- noise limit is 105dBA at all rounds apart from Teesside which is 103dBA (although I've never seen a noise meter)*
-*insurance I'd have a chat with Pace Ward as they are title sponsor the MLRSS and insure a lot of the cars taking part.* Call the guys on*01782 286311.
