Carrera RS - stonechips: paint or leave it
Black Carrera RS, paint is original...but loads of stonechips.
It's not bad, but on black it shows...20years
Wondering whether to get the front end resprayed...or leave the battle scars? What's the general consensus?

If it was mine i would get the front resprayed and then paintshield applied to protect it. As long as its clear that it had nothing to do with damage to the car I can't see how this would be a negative going forward. A lot of this is to do with me hating stone chips though. It aggravates my OCD haha

I had the same problem and had mine sprayed. Not an rs, so that could play a part in the decision for you. If youre having it done I would try to have it done in single stage paint if the rest of the car still is. Just to keep it original.

Pics before judgment, I've seen some chipped fronts, and some almost two-tone fronts, so its hard to tell. Like others said, it depends on what your goals are, but I would get them touched up with 100% matching paint and then have the car detailed well.
Personally I'm waiting till the car really, really needs a re-spray, otherwise, with a detail it satisfies my hooning needs.

I'd respray. Having had a very original 993 that showed all minor blemishes when I got my 964 and had a lot of work done including new paint the difference was night and day! If you document the paint job then no reason to not go forward as your are not hiding anything.
I thought about having paint shield or such like applied but as I unrest and they use a petrol based adhesive they cannot be removed without causing damage to the paint underneath. I had a similar problem with the rear arch guards. When they were peeled off to replace them they brought the top layer of lacquer off.

I would not have an issue painting an RS and documenting the process.
