I don't know about someone bidding it up but that poor 964 has led a VERY hard and sad existence. I will never understand projects like that... Assume $15k in mechanical and $15k in body and paint= $38k invested and you still have a storied car that even in today's hot market might be worth in the $20's somewhere. Why not buy a REALLY nice one for $35k and always have a nice car.

Someone might say track car shell, I wouldn't want a shell that rusty...

Maybe I'm the crazy one?

Looks like that car is full of surprises, and not the good ones.

You'd have to be a shop owner or a serious DIYer w/ lots of metal skills to buy that car and make it nice again w/o spending a fortune.

No way that car is "worth it" if you're going to wallet mechanic it all the way back to road worthiness.

There's something about junk stores and ebay that brings out the 'longshot' bias - images of a hidden compartment in an old suitcase with Lincoln's Diary or hey maybe a couple TBills.
Or maybe A.Piech as the first owners name in the scruffy owners manual

Reserve is not met. Email the seller and find out what the reserve is, there is no reason not to tell you. All bidding up to the reserve is meaningless.

That car is riddled with rust, never seen a 964 as bad. If it was free it would be worth looking at but can't see how you could do much more than strip it and part it out.

Agreed. However, many couldn't drop that kind of money in one go.

This could be a way to access Porsche ownership at a more affordable pace.

Although that is one very very sorry looking example.

That poor example has more problems than a one-armed paper hanger in a windstorm. (No disrespect meant to any one-armed paper hangers that happen to frequent this forum.)

I wouldn't pay a dime more than the current bid - what a neglected POS.

I wouldn't give $700 for the car let alone $7k. Some **** just needs to be scrapped.

And if that engine has been open since 2005, likely there is not much left that is salvagable. I would buy something like that for converting my Tiptronic to a manual, but by the looks of it, most of the parts aren't in good shape. No guarantee that there are even all the parts there to work with.

at least 30K worth of work to get it running. probably at least 12-15K just for the motor.

On further inspection there is rust on the inside door speakers.

And no pistons or cylinders are shown either.

If somebody buys it they are smoking more crack than the buyer.

...but the AutoCheck score of 70 must be worth at least $7K...right?
