Default My 1991 C2 (intro/picture/build thread)

Hey Rennlist, I've admittedly been lurking here and there for years and I figured I'd finally sign up give a formal hello.

I've been into German cars for what seems like forever now, owning a number of BMWs, VWs, Mercs, Audis and Porsches.

I'm currently working on a 1991 C2

Found this 92k mile, 2 owner car in Texas and bought it sight unseen. The motor was rebuilt and sealed 18k miles prior and the car came with docs since new, so the wire was sent.

A little over a week later, the car was delivered to me in NY (and looking a little less pampered than I was told)

The paint was horrific, nearly every lens was cracked or discolored, the tires were mismatched, the stereo was a fire hazard, the suspension was some ****ty GC coilover sleeves that were frozen over old stock shocks and the list goes on...

The good news is the newly rebuilt/sealed motor with docs was as described and aside from the rats nest of speaker wire throughout the car... the interior was relatively mint.

Since the door cards were hacked up about as much as they could be with some ancient 3 way component set... I opted for some RS door cards

After, replacing a bunch more things I didn't take pictures of... I.E. bushings and shift linkage, fixing the AC and a ton of other little odds and ends...

ON TO THE FUN STUFF

finally got the coilovers in and the new plates to match:

...welded up a custom primary/secondary delete:

and got my wheels and tires mounted and balanced

I think since the car is low with big rims it would look better with the aero mirrors.

How well does it do on the street being so low and having no mufflers?

I like the RS door cards because of the lack of speakers. Did you leave the speaker back there or delete the speaker?
