If you're replacing fan/alternator belts, make sure you're running enough shims otherwise it'll lead to more belt and/or alternator and fan bearing failures.

A new belt should take 6 shims between pulley halves, applies for the fan pulley (closest to the fan) and the alternator pulley.

The unused shims should be placed on the outside of the pulley. If they're not, then you have to buy new ones and they're kinda expensive considering what they are. 6 shims per pulley.

Thanks man, yeah I was very particular and checked multiple resources on proper shims and placement before going ahead. I guess I should note that the culprit initially was my AC belt snapping and getting snagged by the alt belt in turn damaging that. Both fixed and all good now
