964 conversion from tip to manual
It's just so hard to find a good manual C2 which is what I want.
Having stated this there are a tone of good tips available.
Am I stupid in considering a conversion to manual??

It can be done and I have spoken to a few specialists in the UK that have done it too. If I hold onto my 64will be going down this route but with a 993 6 speed.
An owner did the conversion himself over a weekend. covered in this issue of excellence

993 6 speed would be nice. I wonder how the slight differences in the engine throttle body where handled.

I'm in an equally stupid position. However, I have all the parts and it's going in the shop tomorrow for the conversion (beyond my capabilities).
Certainly not cheap. Part of the reason I went with my Tip was because it's a non-sunroof car, which is rare in NA, and I got it in the very low five figures. Sourcing used parts; G50/03 ran me about 3K, $200 pedal box, $150 shifter assembly, $400 axles, and starter. Everything else such as new RS clutch, hydraulics, I would have done anyways. So the loose math put me around a mid to high teens car. I went with my cheap eurospec and I'll get a nice fresh-ish transmission setup. Surely the current tip is worth something to someone.
There's a G50/32 (993 RS) box available on one of these boards. That'd be fun... If only I had the scratch.

Any DIYs or other steps / parts list required to do this?
Suspect new ECU required as well? and coding?
Price delta is increasing between tip and manual that may make this make sense

It could be worth it if you plan to keep the car however I don't think a tip converted to manual will be worth what a factory manual would be. People tend to be scared of cars that "Frankenstein'ed".
The tip transmission is worth money and that will help defray some of the conversion cost.

I would plan to track the crap out of it anyway so resale wouldn't bother me - just a question of how much in parts (used) and what parts (complexity) it would take to do.
I did a Honda auto to manual swap once, but my guess is this one is tad more complicated..

tfitch03 is right about value.
audipwr1 - I can send you my invoice and list of parts. Same ECU, and the TCU is simply disconnected but the harness remains. Runs like a champ, LWF and all.

mjr62@cornell.edu is my email
How many hours are we talking of work (approx.) any welding/major body work required or just unbolt and bolting of parts?
