I saw this 964 turbo at JZM the other week with the same combo.

Looks good and so different. Keep the green. Looks like you will be in for an expensive project and you need to prioritise the classic rust around the front windscreen.

Some pics of previous projects greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I'm keeping the green for now. I'll do some research and see if I can find out how rare it is. Like i said, it's growing on me. And if it turns out to be a special order car, I'm definately not changing it.

Some of my previous projects:
I did this VW Lupo back in 2002. Was pretty radical at the time.


Then i did a couple of other cars, before i made a brand new (at the time) 2008 VW Golf GT. Literally rolled it out of the showroom and into the garage for suspension and mods.

Here from Bugrun in Sweden back in 2008(?)

This was at Edition38 in the UK. I think 2009.

My daily grocery getter. (And ice-racer)

Love the interior. Looks similar to Ruf's signature green interior. Welcome to the forum, good start with pictures.

Welcome. Great colour scheme. The green interior colour is the sister to my car's original colour, Matador Red. Your colour has a light black marbling effect to it. Seen it in the flesh on a UK Turbo and it is lovely. Really like it. You can't get the leather any more as the maker went bust years ago. Definitely worth keeping, no matter what you do to the rest of your car. Enjoy.

Work continues..
Today i changed the dampers on the frunk and hood. A bit fiddly in the engine compartment, but such a rewarding result. Now I don't have to hold the lids by hand any longer.

Finally managed to wash the engine bay to better locate any leaks.. Also learned a bit how this strange contraption called a 911 is screwed together.

Glad it's not my driveway..

End result came out OK, I guess. Defo better than it was.

A couple of questions for those in the know..

Is this standard? Do all 964s have adjustable coilovers?
This is obviously at the back, and even if i adjust the collar all the way down, It's not going to get a lot lower.
In the front there was a similar setup, only there I had like half an inch of threads left from the bottom. So I can't quite understand the reason for having adjustability the other way.. Unless you're going to race Paris-Dakar.
No labels on the shocks, and the springs only had an orange paint spot on them. Can't wait to get my H&R Monotubes.

Also I discovered my current wheel/tire setup.
Front is 7.5x17 ET52 with 215/45-17
Rear is 9x17 ET47 with 245/40-17
Guess they are reps, as I found no part number on them. Only "made in Italy" and "Cup 1"

Yes those dampers and springs are standard. The ride height at the front was set quite high by the factory and the only way to adjust it is to replace with lowering springs.

Your H&R set up should resolve this. Whilst you are in the back check to see if your engine mounts are sagging and if so replace them to stop engine movement.

Makes me kinda regret not just buying lowering springs.
Well at least the H&R should get me lower and firmer. Firm is good.

Yeah, I was looking at the engine mounts, might as well buy a new set while I'm under there. Looked like an easy swap.

Thanks Nski Yeah, Edition38 was great. I've been to a lot of shows in Europe and US, but there is something about the quality of UK cars.
My dream is to deliver my car to Plush or some of the other big guns over there.
I tell you what, I can't wait to get this thing on the ground. I've been through a few coilover sets that didn't lower the car enough. My FKs were maxed out, no helpers, My KW didn't go nearly low enough. (On my MK5)
And I'm looking forward to investigating what offsets and dimensions I'll run on the 964. I love proper fitment.
Btw, I love your white 964, Nski.. A true inspiration

Todays task:

While waiting for parts, I started refurbishing the Cup1's
They are curbed to hell and back by the previous owner, But after a lick of paint and some polish, they looked a lot better.

You can buy kw ultra-lows for the 964 bud, but v3s will drop you nice and low. I run H&R street performance coils and car is low with plenty coil left
