New member introduction
Hello fellow Rennlist members,
I would like to properly introduce myself as a new member and recent owner of a Porsche 964. My name is Jan and I am living in Germany. Despite living in London in the 90s, my English may not be 100% accurate anymore, but hopefully understandable.
I have been (indirectly) raised with Porsche (first experience in the 70s with a Porsche 930 turbo as a kid, co-driver of course), as a couple of friends of the family had them. My first own Porsche was a black 944 S2 convertible (only four months because of an unfortunate accident). Later on, a 986 Boxster S in slate gray (loved that rare colour) was my daily transport for more than 8 years. Though no 911, it has been an excellent car and it will be truly missed.
Anyway, for the last 3 weeks I am the proud owner of a black Porsche 964 C4. I intended to buy a 964 already 8 years ago, but backed off as I needed a daily transport. The Boxster seemed to be the more sensible decision at that time. Today it will be “only” my week-end toy. The 964 is not completely stock, as it got some modifications since registration in 1990 (Strosek body kit & a HR lower suspension setting, OZ rims). In 1993 it also received the very rare factory option 911MWDZ02 consisting of the 964 Cup Mototronic and a modified cylinder head resulting in an estimated power hike of 10-15%. I did personally know the former owner who owned it since 1995, which unfortunately passed away 1 ½ years ago. The family had now decided to sell the car and as I always had shown my interest in that particular car for the last couple of years, I was asked first to purchase it.
Since it had not been really used the last 2 years collecting dust, it had a complete service (change of all fluids, spark plugs, belts, refurbishing the ignition distributor, fixing a/c, fixing rust on front window frame, fixing exhaust system, you name it…) by a professional independent, so technically it should be sound (at least it is dry as a bone). It still has a couple of scratches and circular “spider-web” like cracks on the rear end bumper, which I ought to get fixed sooner or later (I wonder how these got there? Heat?). Also the Blaupunkt radio is not working (probably an amplifier problem), but I intend to change to a Becker tuner anyway. Furthermore, I am thinking of deleting the roof antenna.
Sorry, I have not found the time yet to do proper pictures of the car, but at least I attached a teaser:
I am very much looking forward to having lively conversations with you and hopefully I am able to contribute to this forum, as well.
Best
Jan

Welcome Jan. Nice introduction and I like the photo'. Any more pictures? Have the wings and rear quarter panels been replaced in the Strosek package? Particularly interested in how the Borbet wheels look. I have always had a soft spot for them.

Thank you for the welcome,
I have got two more pictures from my test drive, before purchasing the car. Appologies for the bad quality and the dirty car.
The Strosek kit consists of wider front- and backside panels, the mirrors, side sills, different front and back bumper and another exhaust pipe. No rear spoiler has been added.

Not too long ago, there was a Guards Red Targa with the same Strosek kit for sale locally and I thought it look good. It looks even better on a coupe, very sharp car Jan.

obviously Jan likes the strosek, but how do people feel about drilling into the panels to attach similar kits? I backed off putting a kit on mine because the installation required putting holes into metal, with no painting or priming the areas to prevent rust and corrosion.
BTW- the kit I was looking at was almost exactly the same side skirts as Jan's car has.

Greetings Jan, welcome to the forum. Are the wider panels done in gfk (fiberglass)?
Would like to hear more about this factory option, I've only seen it mentioned one other time.

Thanks again for the welcome!
Yes, the Strosek boday parts consist of GFK. Concerning the factory option 911MWDZ02 I tried to obtain some more information myself. In my registration papers the following is stated: "up to 16% power increase; power increase of mototronic id 911MWDZ02, modified cylinder heads. Power itself is stated as 199kw at 6100 rpm which translates to 270 PS or 267 hp (slight contradiction to the up to +16% power hike before. Top speed is stated with 270 km/h or 168 mph. Also I was told that the Mototronic would be from the 964 Cup car. I am not really sure if that is true though.

welcome nice car shame about the previous owner. aww well at least he was 964 all the way,I am sure he would be happy to see his car go to an enthusiast rather then a trader.
