Default Durametric Scan Tool on 1989 964

Hello all, I'm looking at buying a Durametric Scan Tool with the round accessory for the 964's but on their site it states that it works with 1990-1994 964's. What is the difference that makes it not work on the 1989 models?

Thanks,

Do you own a C2 or a C4? ToreB makes a similar device using the ScanTool software, then there is the PDT999 which is the complete hammer clone which is useful if you are a hard core DIY type and own a C4.

I have a C4, I am, in my opinion, a hardcore DIY guy. I will look at those options.

Thanks,

I've already ordered ToreB's setup, can you tell me what the benefits of the Hammer clone are that ToreB's can't do?

The Hammer clone allows you to bleed the diff locks and all hydraulics. That said, there are work-arounds to allow you to bleed the system without the hammer: it just takes two people.

To answer my own thread to help anyone searching this issue, I have found out that if your 1989 964 has the round diagnostic plug the Durametric tool will work, if your 964 does not have the round plug you are out of luck.

As far as I know are all 964 models equipped with the round 19-pin diagnostics connector.
I do not know the reason for the note on the Durametric site, it may be due to some incompatibility issue in the software. You could send them a mail and ask, couldn't you?
Cheers,
Tore

Sorry I should have specified that what I posted above is taken from my e-mail reply from Durametric. I would have put a direct quote in but I can't find the e-mail.

Thanks to Tore for making a lower priced alternative, mine showed up yesterday and now I know the source of my C4's ABS/PDAS issue. I also installed the remote door lock/unlock setup from Tore in about 20 minutes and it works great.

I just bought the Durametric for the C4 .. I cannot get it to bleed the locks
Support just told me to follow the Factory directions

Has two options for C4 Brake bleeding Start and stop
Long. Locks Start and Stop.
Activating them gets the ABS and Dual Solenoid to slowly start clicking???
but i can not get any pressure out of the bleed valves on the slaves.

Anyone know what im doing wrong?
As anyone ever got Durametric to work for the bleed the slave cylinder locks ??
