Default is this normal

In first gear I can get my 91 C4 sideways, and chirp the tires whiile accelerating in second if im at 4k+ rpm. I'm wondering if this is normal. Definitely not complaining!

So the engine is stock as far as I know, but I've got lwf, steve wong, cut air box, k&n, and fabspeed open exhaust into the factory secondary muffler. It just doesnt seem to me that an awd 247 hp car with mods to get to maybe 277hp if im generous, and 103k miles on the clock, would be capable of this.

You guys have similar experiences??

What tyres have you got back there?

I don't think that's normal (not that it's a bad thing of course...) my C2 doesn't do that!

At autocross school, we set up a skidpad, a 50' diameter circle of cones. The idea is to get the rear out, and stay on the limit of adhesion, in 2nd gear by just using the accelerator pedal. I've done this with my C-4.
So don't think that chirping your tires is a problem.

my slightly modified 993 Turbo doesn't do that, so that sounds unusual.

I would check your rear tyre pressures make sure you have not over inflated.

Also the surface on the tyre sometimes valeting people use tyre shine spray
this has a shiny surface but leaves very little friction on road surface. You seem to be able to lose the planted feel of a 911. Your car is behaving like you are driving on snow ? I would have assumed these cars where much more gripper on the rear and to make a AWD to wheel spins at the rear is strange I never seen one do that.

maybe I am not reading your thread properly lol

well i cant disagree with that.

what i meant about the speed is that everything ive read says that the top speed is 155. not sure if thats just electronically limited, and the steve wong got rid of it, or if it means something else that I was able to hit 165, and pretty quickly at that

Chirping tires is a hot rod thing. Basically takes lots of power/torque to overcome adhesion of the tires. I had an '05 350Z and could chirp 2nd and 3rd gears. I could chirp 2nd gear in my 944 as well but never did it again after replacing the clutch at 100k. I've never even tried it in my 964 and don't think that I will.
