Which to buy: RS America vs. '98 993 Carerra S
Pretty straight forward question:
Looking to get into an air cooled Porsche.
Both cars are in very near mint condition with around 60k on the clock. Both manual (obviously). RSA is in Guards Red and C2S is silver.
I've never owned an air cooled Porsche, just a 996 and a bunch of BMWs.
What are people's thoughts?

I am not interested in tracking the car as I have a track only car. This is just for pure driving pleasure and also want to get something unique...

what r ur reasons to buy, both cars to me could be classic collectibles - is that what your looking for?
I had a 993 and currently own a 964, to me I preferred how the 993 drove and looks but the price point on my 964 was far better value, is this the situation with the RS also aka cheaper?
good luck, air-cooled is VERY cool IMHO either way you'll make out...

yes the price is always an issue, I sold my 993 to buy a beach house foreclosure , reentering the market I choose the 964
also I believe the pros and cons of 964 vs 993 have been well sorted here if you search ..
Octane mag had an a bitl on collectible 911 recently, the porsche index HAIG P is up across the board, either way I believe you can'y go wrong

Do a little digging, and you can find the article online.
Consider, as well, the direction that some dealers are taking with their inventories--particularly since you're looking for something special. Holt Motorsports, for example, once a prime source for 993s, has shifted its inventory towards late 80s and early 90s 911s. You can check US production numbers for 964s and 993s; one is definitely higher than the other.
And one of the two production series is currently garnering more attention than the other.

What do you mean actually by "collector condition" price-wise ?
Since teaching my wife to drive our 993, and the fact that she recently returned to work and wants a 911 of her own, we have been looking for another air cooled Porsche in addittion to my current 993. What I have seen lately is that really nice condition 964 cars, let alone 964 RSA cars, are less common than 993 cars.
