Default Hub Extenders (Spacers)

Now that I have mounted the original D92's on my late '91 C2 (many '92 bits) the wheel wells look a bit empty. I've been doing a bit of research on installing hub extenders and spacers. Porsche has approved of 17mm spacers - I have a set of 30mm on hand that I'm thinking of installing on the rear. I like the extra width if it fits, and I like that the spacer carries its own lug nuts and bolts to the hub and so I don't have to install longer lug nuts.

If they fit is there any reason not to use them?

Also, if I install 30mm spacers on the rear, I imagine I should also install spacers on the front? 18mm or somesuch?

Thanks!

John

I think I'm going to be in the market for some spacers soon, I also would prefer the type that bolt onto the hub and have their own set of studs pressed into the spacer.

You don't have to match spacers between the front and rear axles, just realize you add grip to the axle you widen in relation to the opposite axle.

Just as an example, say your car has horrible understeer (front end washes out before the rear). Widening the rear axle will only make the understeer worse.

Looks proper. You're right, the front could use a little dose of spacing too.

I put the 30mm spacers on just because I had a pair. I think they're too big and I've decided to go with 17mm spacers on the back only. Anyone want to trade?

Decided to go with the 17mm spacers recommended by Porsche. The 35mm hub adapters are FS on Pelican if anyone is interested:

Where'd you source the 17mm Porsche ones?

I think the spacers with their own set of studs are great, but I'd be wary of the brand as many cheaper alternatives can have some bad side effects, like the wheel coming off.

That's what I would call a bad side effect.
