Default Tire recommendation and size

Car in question is a '92 America Roadster (wide/turbo body), totally stock and at factory height.

I have purchased, from the RL for sale forum, OEM wide body fitment 18" Speedlines, 8" and 10".

The car will not be tracked, but I would like a contemporary and popular/"hot tip" tire, for lack of better words. I would consider a new-ish used set, but will probably buy new.

So, what sizes and brand(s) do you RListers recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Bill

What a great car you have!!!

My car had Bridgestone's originally, however they were all quite low when I purchased the car so I swapped them for Pirelli. No problems to report. From my reading on the forum I think in general tyre choices would be (just my opinion): -

1. Michelin Pilot - Expensive in UK
2. Pirelli
3. Bridgestone
4. Yokohama A008 - Track

I think if you stick with a good brand then you shouldn't go to far wrong.

Good deals can be found at Tirerack.com in US or Lovetyres.com in UK.

Also, Costco UK do good deals on Michelin

Hope it helps

Cheers

Default Michelin Super Sport

Quiet, grip, and great wear. I have run Yokohama, Bridgestone, and Pirelli's (and in the old days Goodyear.) They are all good tires, but the Super Sports are the best all around tire that I have ever owned.

Keep in mind as well that Michelin has the $70 rebate presently if you live in the US, and Super Sports are awfully hard to beat.

Please give me a call. I'd be happy to help you pick the best one out!

225/40/18 and 255/35/18 is pretty standard for that setup. I would run Conti or Michelin, depending on budget.

You and me both, our cabs will never be tracked or DE'd so top of the line tires are overkill IMHO.

I did love my Goodyear Eagle GsD3s, but they no longer make those.

Nothing wrong with Hankooks I have them fitted on the 17' cups no issues and not because I can't afford others.

I was bummed to see they got rid of the 265/40 17 option with the Direzza II. What a great (albeit noisy) tire! 3/4 of the grip of an NT01/R888/PSC at a fraction of the price!
