Default Rear Defrost Switch on Dash next to fog lights.. need help

Mine just pulled apart. I have pics but to large of a file to post.

How does this switch work? Mine pulled out and the threads on the bottom of the shaft are good but the plastic it was supposed to thread into are not. Also, it looked like someone glued it to the switch earlier so not sure how it would have worked anyways... Does it pull out or turn to activate the rear window defrost?

Thanks,
Bryan

Probably, that would have the new threads in the plastic portion. I wish I could just find a donor piece or clean up the threads on the plastic portion inside. Anyone know how these come apart enough to get to to the threads?

Thanks for the help,
Bryan

Default Got it...

I got it a part. Now, I have to figure out where the ball bearing and spring came from.

Can anyone help with a diagram that I can use to put it back together with the parts...? Here is a link with updated pics.

Thanks,
Bryan

Since I wasn't able to even see the spring and bearing before I pulled it apart I would be scared to do that. still hoping I can find a diagram which shows me..

Thanks,
Bryan

Still need some help.

I was able to fix the threads but not I'm trying to find out where the spring and ball bearing came from when I pulled it apart. Before I can reinstall I need to assemble correctly. Anyone have a diagram to show me how to re-assemble?

Thanks,
Bryan

I figured it out. The end cap only went on one way. When I looked at the two possible spots to house the spring I simply looked inside the end cap and noticed a slight marking where the spring had been pressed against for the last 20 years... easy peasy lemon squeezy.... Figured I would update in case anyone else ever runs into this problem.

Thx,
Bryan
