Is the 964 the Mr. Potato Head of the Porsche world

I like Mr Potatohead aka Herr Kartoffelkopf
But I don't think the 964 really lends itself to back and forward dating that much.
I think there a more back dates based on the torsion bar cars as its a much easier job. The high end Singer, PS etc short hood backdate 964s are very rare.
Common 964 updates are really limited to a few of the 993 mechanicals, even then its not the parts from the cooking spec models we go for.
The main trend is 964 RS reps (with or without the badge) and why not, the RS was so close to the standard car, its not a major leap, fairly reversable, it does "ruin" them for future generations.
It's a little surprising that there aren't more widebody conversions which is something you see with the earlier cars, but maybe unlike the seventies cars there wasnt really a halo effect track going widebody 964, so the only thing you'd be emulating is the film Bad Boys which is a little infra dig![Stick Out Tongue](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
As for the "which is the best 911" debate . . .

well since this has degenerated into another null thread, ie you don't have a leg to stand on so you start personal attacks. I h=guess I'll sign off and leave w/ the comment that you Potato head owners need to remove each and evry 993 piepc from you prizes.
By the way don't dare ask for my help again

I don't believe that I have ever asked for your help and don't worry I promise to never do so in the future.
Not sure why you've involved the others?

Just got through buzzing thru this thread, and what do I see two threads down? Someone, (you know who you are, and everyone else does too, now; and bless your heart!!) wants to put 993 door handles on his 964! Apparently there's no end to it all. Guess I'm just a "stickinthemud". Its a "to each his own" world after all. Cheers everyone!

And what, pray tell, do I see down two more threads? The suggestion to unite the 964 & 993 fora ! Would make things interesting. (for those of us with thicker skins)

Please, anyone who may have been even remotely slighted by my earlier subtler than subtle snide comment on the installation of 993 door handles on their 964, mercifully forgive me!!! I had no idea (as obtuse as I am!) that they (993 handles) complimented the esthetics of a 964 wearing the updated aero style rear view mirrors! As usual, CHEERS to all.

Still confused at to why you claimed to be able to Judge Bill's insights
like that ... I've long ago put him on my RL Top 10 along with JohnSlow911,
Glen, Steve W, Loren, John D (ofourse), Linton, Dell etc... ie if you read their
threads you'll learn something ... Every time ... And I've read a lot of threads!
We don't have a rep guage on RL but I've no doubt Bill's would be high.
You see he contributes in a positive way. Try it, ignore it, but don't knock it.

Alright girls, put the fire out on your tampon strings.
This isn't a 964 vs 993 argument.
To me, the 964 is the last of the classic 911's that were built, but has updates that make it great driving car. All cars evolve and history judges them all. If you want to back/up date your 964, have at it. It will only make mine worth all that much more. It wasn't a very high production car.

lol. Voted for the top post on this Crazy thread. 964's are great and so are most every 911. Some like the humps others not. Some covet slantnose and others would slap a chevy engine in a low mileage 964
