Hi guys, just some clarification on front oil tanks from experience with my Spec 911.

The vent line set up is critical. At 6-7k rpm a lot of oil is forced out the breather. I figured a 1 qt breather catch can would suffice, I was wrong.

You can't have any dips in the vent line that collect oil on the way back to the tank. I corrected my system and now have the vent line going straight up the roof line and directly down into the tank.

Oil level is also quite tricky. I've found that the rear edge of the smugglers box is close to the limit in oil level. If you have more or less Rake to the suspension this changes obviously.

"Impressively, the engine has required only one major rebuild during seven racing seasons."

Over 70 races on the Jerry Woods built 3.0... that might be the most impressive part of that article. Wow...

Go look up John James Racing on Facebook. They recently posted pictures of their 964 RSR with a reconfigured frunk that relocates the gas tank to the spare tire well and add a front-mounted oil tank.
