But turns out he he was a collector of all sorts of automobilia and never owned an RS.

So I want to help them get a fair price as I don't intend to keep them myself ( 993 owner...)

Let you know when I see them in person.
Well that clarifies why you were asking for the value,
buying one of those set could be dangerous, unless someone have an original car and use them for show, magnesium doesn't last long, (after 20 years) corrode easily and internal cracks can only been seen by scanning the wheels witch is rather expensive to do on a regular basis, like race teams ...
not to mention that we can find lighter wheels, forged like the Volks, lighter in any sizes and offsets for less money...
well sorry for the Fans, that's only my opinion

But the 964RS in Europe in the meantime reached a price segment where a proper restauration also of former tracktools starts to get interesing. And if you want to get your money for a genuine RS you need to show the mag-rims (as well as the alu-hood).
But I agree, it doesn´t make sense really to drive the wheels - I am storing my set in the basement (after refurbishing and x-ray investigation).

Originality on an RS not withstanding I don't quite get the draw of Cup 1 Mags. And how can that price be justified?
Having said that I do regret selling the ones fitted to my C2 long before I bought it. Funds dictated at the time!
But there are lighter wheels out there, for example the 993 17" Sport Classics that I know a few of us are using.

Absolutely true, however that goes for a lot of parts. I trade rare Porsche parts ( not these wheels for reasons stated in my previous post ) and I see prices that are not justified by the product itself. For instance most people consider the older model 993 sportseats ( 964 type ) to be much better than the later hardback style sportseat, still the hardbacks command twice the money. Simple case of supply and demand I guess.

Yup, rarity is rarity. When you need the original parts for that RS, the value is there. Hope you are all well.....

This is so true. All of the RS owners I know (in the UK) have their mags safely put away in dry storage. They're kept to pass on with the car if they ever sell it. Those owners have no need to buy a set of mags. It's the very rare RS that lost its mags early on its life that forms the market for these equally rare spare sets of rims.

Still have my Mags on my RS Touring, they feel good and light. Although I think from this season will swop for a set of Cup Cup 1's in alloy and put the Mags in the loft.

Going to put these on the RS2 Avant Audi. so the a set of 4 or 5 7j would be ideal.

They probably won't, Im going after the single rims first.

Im quite baffled why these guys sell the rims refurbed and no paper work for scanning before refinishing.

just picked these up so they'll keep me happy for a while.
