And what, with my thirst i do like a cuppa.

And come to the conclusion that as i have the best colour for the 64 i don't need the 993 door handles because they already match.....

Anyway someone said if your gonna paint the alternator fan you might as well rebuild the motor while your in there?

I do like new glass though. No scratches etc
No scratches on the windows I hate to think what the roof lining looks like! What on earth has been going on back there

Yes that was mine. It was already in with them to have rust on a rear quarter sorted (it had to be cut off and replaced), so I got 964Russ to put a new screen on at the same time. Once Russ removed the old pitted screen, they found lots of corrosion underneath so they fixed that too before Russ put the new one on. The rubber for the screen was the only thing OK to go back on!

Wink

this thread makes good reading as I plan to some how remove the screen to deal with the rust spot in the corner. Did they manage to remove screen with out cutting the rubber ? I thought did was difficult as screen is bonded well not the screen but the rubber is bonded glued to the metal surround ?

My car is a LHD California convertible import with twin airbags more then likely my screen will be glued this sucks as it makes for a harder removal..

I see so many threads with heated discussions on 964 screen rubber being glued down and some people saying it is not glued. Does any one know what the fix is for the water trap at the corners to stop repeat rust issues sorry to try to Hijack this thread but I feel it is an issue that might concern the original Poster..

The screen was removed no probs with the rubber seals intact without cutting, so thats a bonus. You have a point cbr786 about the water holding behind the screen in the corners, must have been a problem for a previous owner as there was clear plumbers silicone behind the screen under the seal! Not however if anything would help, i hoping that making the surface good again, and refitting the seal will do its job. Does make you think it might be worth and cant hurt to add some form of non setting sealant in there too, unless this is bad and i missing something.

Cbr, your probably right.
Your screen stands a good chance of being full of glue.
If its only a bit you can remove it with the rubber.
Depends how much bond is on it.
Ive seen an import 964 with 20/30 mm of bond all the way round, glass and body. Very tough to remove.

Try pulling the rubber back, can you see any glue?
