Anybody mentioned the sills and rot? Watch out could be very expensive.

I had a 944s2 which was nice an torquey and lots of fun. My understanding with the turbos is you can get some good performance upgrades for not too much money eg: promax stage 2 kit adds about 50-80bhp etc. have always had a soft spot for the 944 and a tweaked turbo would be very cool. The pcgb forum has an active 944 forum and view is that £1500-2k per annum is required to maintain them and I know my car had had about £10k spent on it before I bought it, half of that was a top end refresh. I think unlike the 964 much money can be spent with minimal added value.

If you are looking to turn a profit then stick to the 911 variants. The 944T is a wonderful car to drive and own though, I just think that the sum of the parts are not greater than the whole, meaning that if you buy a $4K beater you will have to spend $7-8K to sell it for $10K.

Its not to say you can't flip a 944T for profit it is just going to be harder.

Thanks all, so the 944T isn't really a great project car then. Good driver's car though.

Will pass.

I own both, 944 turbo is a mess to work on, a pain in the you know what. A 964 is built better than a 944 turbo, they are apples and oranges. FYI if you are buying a 944 turbo, get one that was maintained like a 911. Most 944s are not taken car of like 911s, but this does not mean they are bad cars, just owners that don't want to take care of their cars. I bought my newest and nicest 944 turbo that is a garage queen and I love it! I love my 964, wouldn't trade it... maybe for a 993 or 997. The 944 turbo is a very complicated machine, therefore more expensive in my experience to maintain. My 964 is less complicated and easier to work on.

I love the torque of my 944 turbo, but I love the sound and handling of my 964. I would recommend owning both if you can afford it.

Thanks Chris. Was thinking of converting the 944T into a CS type car, have fun for a couple of years, and sell it on later. Will come back to a 964 at some point in time, there were personal reasons why I sold the 964.
