Are the Silver Bosch coils still bad?
I have to replace my coils and was not sure what the current status is of the Brazilian made coils. Is Bosch still having quality problems, should I be taking the extra time to figure out how to use the 993 coils?
Thanks

Depends on who you ask
I purchased my silver coils last year from Pelican and have not experienced any issues.....

lots of people have had bad brazilian coils , but you win a prize for most .
In the VW world , brazilians have had a bad reputation far as long as I can remember

I always wonder when to replace mine since they look to be original.

when you do, you'll get a very cheap performance boost.

I replaced my coils in March 2011 as part of a complete tune up, Last week I had to get the flat bed tow, Silver coil failure..
Put the Old black ones back in and car runs fine, bet it would run better with new coils but never again on the Bosch Silver..Is there something else that can be used?

I just got mine replaced with silvers. My mech said that's all is available. He can't even get the blacks anymore.

My silvers have been fine, but plenty of others have complained. Seems like the luck of the draw... If mine fail I'll install the 993 setup.
