So you mean the hot* setup is a tube that attaches to the control arm, pointing at the middle of the hub?

Hi Steve, I saw your car getting some nice new bits a couple of weeks back, any extra air getting to the brakes can only help. The protector plate was just a general remark btw. As for the existing deflector plate, it does sit marginally higher when the cars are lower albeit not by much, but enough to reduce the flow of air a little. I thought the RS may run a larger deflector but it seems not, although the brakes are of course a fair bit bigger on the RS.

Default Direct Cooling

For Florida July heat at Sebring and Roebling, I use the forward vents for the oil cooler and the lower Cool Brake vents for direct rotor cooling. The slotted rotors and R4 pads are fool proof.

What an awesome system! Are these off the shelf parts? Any chance you could post more pics of how the ducting pipes are located behind the disk?

Almost F1 style cooling! Thanks for sharing your pics Harvey.

It's nice to see that this thread has sparked so much interest and ideas in the subject.

I really like that setup. +1 for parts list/more detail pics.

Oh, and headlight drain tubs (911.631.259.02), pick up a few the next time you order parts so you don't continue to have open holes in your front tub.

The scoops look like they're in line w/ the front axle, like the OEM deflector plates on the control arms, so unless you high center the car between the front tires, the ground clearance shouldn't be that big of an deal.

Great stuff thanks Kos. Now if only Harvey would post more pics from behind the disk...

I have the kit Harvey has (or at least very similar), and I think I got it at OG Racing a number of years ago. It's not the kit AJUSA used to sell, as they didn't have a kit for the 964 then.

I've knocked off (and/or damaged) the ducts under the A-arms more times than I can count. And I've rebuilt them with aluminum and kevlar and even made them bigger. They still get damaged. My car is mainly a track car and not daily driven. The aluminum is good in that it bends when hit, and can be bent back into shape (versus destroyed for the fiberglass).

I still don't feel like the brakes get enough air. My car sits pretty low. The thought of merging the bumper ducting to the hoses (in the kit) that direct air to the center of the rotor is appealing. Another winter project.

Doesn't suprise me you guys have ground clearance issues....is there any other place those ducts could be fited ?
Maybe fit ducts at the disc too would provid more air .....
