Default Wheel spacers

Guys,

I am looking for some spacers for my 964, but would prefer to buy second hand, my funds are tight and I have to get the clutch redone so can't spend much.
I was scouting round eBay but wanted to check what I need to look out for in terms of spacers, what PCD measurement do I need to look for?

Stud pattern : 5x130

Centre bore size : 71.5mm

Original nut/bolt thread size : M14 x 1.5

Is this correct?

You're limited to <7mm spacers unless you go hub-centric. Here's some off eBay...

Ok but why not go for hub centric? I think I want more than 6mm...

What are you trying to achieve?

Are we talking rears? What wheels?

Just want the wheels to look more like they are filling the arches... car has cup 2s now and they seem too inset. Rear could do with another 10mm and front with 15mm

Hi Jack

I've recently fitted some 19mm spacers to the rear of mine (running original Cup 1s). I originally ordered some 15mm spacers from an ebay store, but they weren't bolt on, so they would have been a right pain to fit - would've involved taking the brakes apart and discs off etc. to fit. So I sent them back and bought some bolt ons second hand off a chap my mechanic knew.

I haven't bought some fronts yet, as I wanted to see if I got any rubbing issues with the 19mms. So far none, so I'll probably order some of those 7mms from porscheshop. You won't need much for the front.

My advice is go for bolt ons. Hope that helps.

OK, I would go 15mm adaptors on the rear and 7mm shims on the front

Too big on the front will muck up the steering

10mm means replacing studs which is a PITA on the rears due to the handbrake

You wanted to keep the price down so I suggested non-hubcentric

They're quite a few more £s and you're limited to who will supply them.

The cheaper route would be to go for longer threads and thicker non hubcentric spacers, but its more hastle.

Thanks for the advice. Why would a wider front track muck up the steering? just because of fouling or do you mean that more than 7mm at the front will result in rubbing?

Thanks Paul, but wont widening the front by less than the back result in potentially more understeer? Can't remember if yours is a 2 or 4, but mine is a 4 and I've only just managed to tame the understeer with geo changes.. not keen on anything that might bring it back.

Paul - You little devil! Bet she looks cool with the wider stance?

Jack - I've tried out various spacer set ups (on a Carrera 2), but none have dramatically affected understeer (on the road at least).

Well I've not noticed any understeer, although i've not really pushed too hard since they've been fitted. Mine is a C2 and I do plan on fitting some to the front, but only 7mm. More so it looks better balanced cosmetically.

Our Porkers have a wider rear track anyway and as far as I know, the front isn't up to adding much more than 7mm without having rubbing issues etc.
