Default Who bought this one? 90 C2 with lots of Ruf bits

The car below just sold on Feebay. 26 bids @ $19,099.00

Interesting story...a color change and then lots of Ruf bits added. I'm very happy to say it was driven...A LOT! 242,000+ miles!

1990 Porsche 911/964 C2 coupe, RUF, upgrades
Listed for sale is my 1990 Porsche C2 coupe. Vehicle is in beautiful condition. Vehicle runs and drives excellent and I would not think twice about driving this vehicle across the country. This has been a really awesome car to own, but I have too many cars and am selling thos one. This vehicle gets looks and much attention whenever it is driven. Options on this vehicle are cruise control, sunroof, power windows, AC and central locking, which all work great. Vehicle also has many RUF upgrades and other performance upgrades. I have owned this vehicle for the last 5 years and all the upgrades and performance improvements have been done since I have owned this vehicle. I was told by the previous owner that the engine was rebuilt at approx. 150K. Engine does run very, very well. Vehicle was originally red and previous owner repainted vehicle silver. Engine and transmission were removed recently due to a faulty transmission reverse gate and also due to a few minor engine oil leaks. Transmission was dissasembled and inspected. All bearings and synchros were inspected and all check within spec. Reverse gate stop was replaced. All transmission seals and gaskets were replaced, including axle flange seals and transmission input shaft seal. Transmission cross shaft was updated and updated bushing kit was installed. Clutch slave cylinder was replaced with the factory recommended upgraded slave cylinder. Clutch was ipdated at this time to a 964RS clutch set and flywheel was replaced with a factory 964RS flywheel. Transmission fluid was upgraded to REDLINEsynthetic gear oil. While engine was out the following additional repairs were completed. Valve cover gaskets were replaced and valves were adjusted. Oil feed line seals were replaced. Timing covers were removed, timing chains, tensioners and guided were all checked for wear, all checked okay. Timing cover gaskets and seals were replaced. Oil breather gasket was replaced. Intake manifold was removed, cleaned and gaskets and intake plenum sleeves were replaced. Injector seals were replaced. Rear main seal and front crankshaft seal were replaced. Intermediate shaft o ring was also replaced. Ignition distributor was removed and dissasembled. Distributor drive belt was replaced, distributor bearings were replaced and distributor oil seal. Spark plugs were replaced and ignition wires were checked. A Rothsport racing single drive belt system was installed. Also installed at this time was an FVD 993 MAF sensor conversion with upgraded ECU and chip. Oxygen sensor was also replaced. Power steering system was serviced and flushed. Engine compartment sound insulation pad was replaced and engine compartment seal. Engine compartment fan blower motor was removed and upgraded with a 964RS carbon fiber blower bypass pipe (have original parts to reconvert if needed). Engine was serviced at this time and MOTUL 15W50 synthetic oil was installed. Hydraulic system was serviced and bled. Battery was replaced. All repairs done in the last 800 miles. Other upgrades done since I have owned this vehicle are as follows:

RUF badges front and rear/ RUF 18 inch narrow body wheels/ RUF gauge set in KM(done 2K miles ago)/ RUF suede airbag steering wheel/ RUF pedal set/ RUF exhaust pieces/ RUF front strut bar/ RUF floor mats

Euro 964RS clutch and flywheel assembly/ Euro 964RS front and rear adjustable sway bar set/ OE Euro 964RS rear bumper center section/ RS carpet kit installed/ RS leather door panels installed/ Rear seat delete

964 Speedster seats with repainted shells, seats recovers in italian leather with green stitching and green and black houndstooth seat inserts(these seats are beautiful)

New Bilstein adjustable suspension with H&R green springs/ Vehicle lowered to european ride height

FVD 993 MAF sensor and ECU upgrade with chip

993 calipers front and rear, dissasembled, powder coated green and rebuilt, RUF decals installed

Euro H4 headlights with city lights and yellow bulbs/ Tires replaced in the last 1500 miles/ Power 993 mirrors installed

Please call 253.381.9065 with any questions. Many more pics available upon request. Thanks for looking.

Nobody's worried a out the mileage? How much longer can that bottom end hold out before it needs a rebuild? (Honest question!)

Me too, I just wonder how much life is left in the drivetrain after 250k miles. How long can a well maintained 964 engine (bottom end) be expected to last before needing a complete rebuild?

So can anyone comment on the engine's bottom end. Is the 250k the end of the line, or could the new owner expect another 100k miles trouble free?

Rocket Rob should chime in - his has ~230k on the clock. I saw the cylinders and old bearings - still had a lot of life. 250k is just getting warmed up

I wouldn't worry about the mileage. My cab had almost 232K when I decided to rebuild its engine due to a wire harness fire. As Scped said, my bottom end was in great shape. I'm reusing the pistons and cylinders. I had new valves and valve guides installed on the heads, just to be cautious. If you take good care of the maintenance, these engines will run for a very long time.

Thanks Rob, that's great insight! What else really wears out on these engines then, oil pumps? Cam gears? Intermediate shafts? I don't know what else one should be worried about with high miles 964s...

If you can't already tell, I'm a potential buyer of the car in question Seller seems like a very nice guy, hope I don't make a mistake buying a car with such high miles and a different color repaint (red to silver).
